Inside the womb is as loud as a vacuum cleaner with the sound of blood rushing, heartbeats and other noise. Newborns are not used to quiet so white noise might be soothing to her at night.

This looks like bare-bones basics to me. Maybe realistic for rich Americans? My husband and I make and do almost everything from scratch, no high tech or pre-made food or gadgets for us. E.g. we buy bulk frozen fish that needs processing, as that's cheaper and healthier. Husband is allergic so I have to cook separate meals. I make my own yogurt from kefir grains, our vegetables are unprocessed - full of dirt and bits that need lots of pealing, sterilise dishes in a pot, wash dishes by hand, mending a shirt and scrubbing out stains, de-linting washing and unpacking & setting up dry racks to dry it, clean dirty secondhand items we find at the kerb, etc. We do almost daily research on best practices - e.g. aluminium foil vs natural parchment paper; kids equipment safety, nipple confusion etc. I have chronic issues to deal with like thrush that needs constant cleanup and doesn't go away despite many things I tried. Also realistically many mums spend 6+ hours breastfeeding alone. Something always breaks and needs fixing, things don't go according to plan and we forgot to get something at the store, cleaning up cats messes from litter etc, husband and I have some frustrating misunderstanding between us for which we apologise and make up. Wobbling and grunting when moving because of exhaustion but laying in bed unable to sleep. This vlog makes life seem more glamorous than it is for almost all people in this world. It seems very picture-perfect, instagrammable, highlight reel. A life most could potentially envy. I wonder what has been left out.

Anna Zhucova don’t be bitter. Just because her reality is different from yours doesn’t mean it’s not realistic. Also everyone “researches” those things, this is a day in the life, you mentioning it here is just fishing for compliments for doing the bare minimum. Don’t mom shame because you’re “oh so perfect” and should be doing it your way.

Saving a few dollars isn’t always worth the hours of hard work that goes into doing what you’re doing, but to each his own. If you truly enjoy scrubbing clothes, making yogurt, and processing fish, enjoy, but I’d rather spend my leisure time enjoying life.

It's not always intentional, especially in the early weeks when literally the only energy you have is centered on your newborn. I still feel incredibly guilty and horrible when those hours in a day literally felt like minutes and weeks went by like days and all I was able to manage was food and some pets for my cat. It's better at this 6 week point because the schedule becomes more routine, the exhaustion is a bit more normal and a little less. I spend as much time with kitty as I can now that I'm not trying to function on barely 3 hours of sleep and not having to devote all my other available hours to my baby. I'm a bit less judgemental on others about it having now gone thru it, but effort does need to get made, I agree. I still feel terrible for the lost time as my kitty is very important to me but my child required all the attention I could muster.

Ok, y’all are the cutest family I’ve seen on YT for awhile. 😍 I’m a 37 year old SAHM of a big 8 year old girl and a little 9 month old boy. Let me tell you- you’re doing a fantastic job! The way you interact with your sweet baby is truly inspiring. You are absolutely a natural at this Mama Bear gig! For the world’s sake I hope y’all decide to have more kiddos in the future. Anyway, sorry to gush, I just had to give you & your husband props. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing a DITL. ❤️

I agree, baby hair is so soft when you touch it and once it grows out more you can put it in cute little hair styles! I was born with a full set of hair and my baby books are mostly full of pictures of me and my twin sister with little pony tails sticking up in the middle of our heads. 😂

This video helped me a lot because I'm 6 weeks in and still don't have a concept of a routine so had been flying by the seat of my pants trying to survive a newborn. But after watching i tried incorporating your routine and it felt really good. Baby seemed happy with it, perhaps because i was also less frazzled. Most of my free time is on school at the moment but it was really empowering to feel ahead of the game today getting my little girl's needs met. Thanks!

I'm due in april with my first and I'm 14 weeks. I have actually had the same emotions of not feeling fully connected yet. It changes right about the 4th month I think (which is where I am now). Suddenly you just feel like a mama and all this stuff that needs to get done becomes a very big deal lol. I've also noticed that hubby is starting to relate more to being a daddy and he's referring to protecting us a whole lot more which also makes me comfortable and ready. Idk...its strange all these feelings. But they are present and dont beat yourself up for feeling like your normal self for the 1st few weeks. I had no morning sickness or anything so I think I struggled doubly with connecting. It wasnt till a few days ago that I started actually "feeling pregnant"

It definitely helps to feel baby move. I had a hard time feeling connected until my girl started moving. I’m 8 months now and it feels a lot different. Every pregnancy and mom and baby are different and different feelings come at different times. Don’t feel like you have to have certain feelings like others expect you to!
