    Very cute! My wife and I have 2 long-haired mini dachshunds. Such a great breed of dog. The oldest is 10 and you'd never guess. Took him on an 8 mile hike over the weekend and he didn't skip a beat. The other is 2. It's such a joy seeing them as brothers, can't imagine owning a different breed. I highly recommend taking Frankie on a hike if you never have, it's really fun to see dachshunds exploring the outdoors, they absolutely love it!

    @Michael Jordan No clue. My wife got the black and cream before we met, it was at a puppy mill though in Tennessee. The blonde one we got in Wisconsin but the breeder relocated to Chicago, not sure if she is still breeding.

  • @jankmedia1985

    @jankmedia1985

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@lasi1645 Depends. They act like little guard dogs so they'll bark if someone walks by the house but we just tell them to stop barking and they listen. They'll bark too if playing rough with each other but again, we just tell them to stop barking. They're never aggressive though with strangers, etc. Dachshunds are super intelligent and loyal, they're pretty easy to train if you put the time in when they're pups. They're honestly an amazing breed of dog, they have huge personalities, act like big dogs in that they want to explore and swim, etc. Just a total joy to be around. You really gotta take them hiking to see their true nature. I take mine hiking, off leash, everyday for like 90 minutes, it's awesome. I have some videos on my channel if you're interested in seeing what they're like when they're allowed to embrace their instincts.

    Frankie seems perfectly happy with his living arrangements. My mini longhair dach/toy poodle cross sleeps anywhere she likes, has access to yard via doggy door. In an apartment this is not possible but Frankie's Mom is doing all the right things for his well being. If he objected to the night crate I am sure he would be barking and crying out for a release. Lots of Love there between them. 🤗

    Crate training is important for puppies. In addition to potty training, it prevents them from eating stuff that's bad/toxic for them, chew furniture, walls, carpets, electrical wires, etc. As they get older they dont do this as much, but if you get a puppy rhe crate is vital at the beginning.

    Some people are way too sensitive to the fact that some dogs are kept in a crate at night. Personally, our dachshund prefers to sleep in his own bed in his crate, he'd jump off my bed to do so, even if I offer to let him sleep with me. Clearly this puppy gets lots and lots of love, and is extremely healthy. I also bet they both get more restful sleep at night 🤷‍♀️

Noises she hears and people going by our street make her bark 😊 I don't mind at all... she is kind of warning us of something. She is a cutie, but I didn't train her and she doesn't sleep in a crate. She sleeps where she wants to. Only not in my bed during the night. Hubby loves her but doesn't like pets in bed. I had a kitten and it was the same; she only slept in my sons' bed 🤭

    Dogs are den animals and they feel safe in their crates. They only have to go during the nights while they are still puppies and they make it known if they have to go. Plus, responsible owners know to be on the lookout during the puppy phase. They will learn to hold it longer and longer as their bladders grow bigger. Animals will not go in their crates unless the crates are too big. They need to be just big enough to turn around in and lie down comfortably. Sleep time is not for just walking around.

    Some dogs feel secure in their cage

    I thought exactly the same our dachs is in his bench with the door open. A closed cage is absolutely horrible.

    @@balancedeerlennon Hardly, that sounds like an excuse to lock them up. We never locked any dog of ours in a cage ever. And if they only feel secure in a locked cage you have created a very scared little dog and have to work in that, not locking the cage.

    Why does he sleep in a cage that is covered?? He's not a bird and he has a bed so I don't understand.🤔

    I personally think that dogs should not be kept in a crate, it makes them feel excluded

    I dont like when owners put their dog in cages overnight. Its so odd. Let the dog sleep free.
