It must be surreal finally getting to do the job you spent so long studying for right?
The heart patient was such a good horse. and the donkey Adorable
despite me being only 13, i’ve always loved animals and especially horses. i really aspire to be an equine vet some day and while it may change, it doesn’t look likely. i’m homeschooled tho which makes it so much harder but i’m currently volunteering at my local horse riding school farm which has been so amazing for me. just being around the horses and learning their behaviour is wonderful. i hope to be able to somehow learn more than i would at school and be an equine vet one day, this video was wonderful to watch :) ❤️ ps. would you mind explaining how things work for you as you have your own horses too? like how does it all balance with work and caring for your own as that’s what i’d like one day :) 💕
I want to be an equine reproductive veterinarian so this was actually a quite fun video for me to watch! Thank you!

Hello! I am a fourth veterinary student; I’ll be completing a rotating large animal at the University of Tennessee after graduation. Thanks for the “preview” of what I’ll be expecting!!
Sooooo very much loved watching this!!! I wish more vloggers did this type of content!
Glad to see you so happy in Australia with your vet work! Such a dream job, I found it so interesting! Thanks for sharing :)

I want to thank you so much for this video! I want to be an equine vet and im currently in undergrad and getting a peek at what you do was so enjoyable for me.
Aw well done holly x I would love if you ever have the time to do a video on lameness and how to spot subtle changes etc xxxx
That was great what an interesting job it amazes me when the vet use to visit at the yards I worked for I was right there asking questions galore loved it.can’t wait to see you back home though and see all your babies again and the giggles with your Dad😂😂😂tfs😎
Thanks so much for filming this Holly, it was really interesting. Relieved the "stars of the video" all seemed to be doing well. Safe travels 🙂
Love this!!!
As a vet student struggling to choose between all the animals I could take care of, this video was quite enlightening about the equine vet job ! Thank u
First can’t wait to watch stay safe holly
Thx so much for this, Holly. Didn’t want to bug for you to do this, knew there could be privacy issues possible etc so so glad you were finally able and had a little time to do so. So much more relaxed and positive than I thought it might be (no doubt there is plenty of stress and occasional unfortunate out-come too that you can’t show). Really appreciated this. Thank you. So looking forward to seeing you back home in Ireland with your Dad and Khal and the gang.
Thanks for sharing your job with us, I enjoyed it and am jealous of all the baby scratching you get to do!
2ndd!!!!!😂😂 love this holly and cant wait to see you riding the boys again soon❤❤
It's lovely to se how the Vlogging riders get on with there careers too. What a great experience - going to Australia to work an internship. Loved this vlog Holly.
Super interesting video, would love to see more like this!
Please do more of these types of videos, they are great 💜
It was cool to see what you do at your job!
So cool to see you out practicing!! Also, your donkey patient is the cutest!
I can't believe how quickly time has gone, it doesn't feel like long since you left! This was a really interesting video to watch especially Covid precautions wise compared the UK!
Loved this! Would love to see more vet-type videos too even when you're back in Ireland if possible! Super informative and cool as hell! Makes me want to be a vet!
I'd love to be an equine veterinarian when I grow up and have really enjoyed learning from my horse's vet, so this was a really helpful video to see!
This was fun to watch! As a stablehand at a vet clinic I see all this everday but it’s interesting to see how other states and other vet clinics operate :)
Thanks for sharing. Loved it 💜🐎
That was very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to share . Bet they will be sad to loose you next month .
Loved this vid! My dream job, it looks like such a good job!
YOU ARE GREAT HOLLY!!!

LOVED it! Thank you 😄
Whaaat?? I can't believe you've been there for 5 months already!! I feel like you left last month 🙉😅 it's been so fun following you on this little adventure, but I'm also really excited to see Kahl, Dali and all the other horses! 😍
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing.🐴
Such an interesting video. Thanks!
I just realised! You guys did my pony! He is a little grey pony that had to get fluid removed from his head, did very will. I’m going to be working there in a couple of years
Great vlog Holly, it was so nice to finally have an insight into your working days. I bet the variety of problems has been an amazing learning experience for you. Have you got a job lined up back home in Ireland for when you get back or are you having a bit of a break when you get home hun? Thank you for sharing this with us, it was really interesting watching it. Take care and stay safe over there hun 💜
Thank you for sharing!
It looks like you have had some really good opportunities there. I’m thinking about being a small animal vet, I’m only 15 so it might change but I think it would be cool to be a vet, maybe even an equine one but I feel like that would be more stressful 😂❤️

From when I was 10-16 I wanted to be a vet too, I think most horse girls go through that phase in their lives, but I just found that I wouldn't be able to put down animals, AT ALL. And I dont think of myself as very emotional, but I just would not be able to do it. Especially a small animal vet, because those people love their dogs and love their cat ect. and they usually bring the children as well and seeing them lose their loving pet would be way to much for me! I was at the vet with my cat and this lady walks in with her cat in its cage and 10 min later she comes out with an empty crate and is crying her eyes out and looks so confused and broken. I had to help her to her car. It was horrible and I cannot do that to myself every single day. So please think about that before you make your choice, would you be able to do that?
Loved this!
Ive been love watching the Scottish Vets hopefully it comes back next year. We have to have a new the Irish vet 🤗
My dream is to be an equine repro vet so this was super interesting for me! Thank you for sharing! 🤩

I have been looking into this since I'm studying equine at the end of the year and I want to be an equine vet assistant or nurse thank you for this video :)
Im a technician at a solo practitioner Equine clinic. A lot of our “special cases” get referred to hospitals like yours so it was great seeing a hospital setting for a change. 99% of our cases are in the field so doing things like nasogastric tubing looks a little different (usually not in a barn) 😂 thank you for sharing, a good watch

Very interesting, thank you - it must feel a bit different to Ireland....! Hopefully you are enjoying it....
this is so interesting!
Great video! Well done. Thanks Mark in Milwaukee Wisconsin 🇺🇸🧀
Hello! I really want to be a large animal veterinarian and this video is so insperational!!!! BTW your donkey patient is so cute!!!
Congratulations 🎉 for being vet and your last month or intern.
Hey Holly! This video was interesting to watch through! Do you think you can inform us more about the academics you had to take and the process in order to become an equine veterinarian! I would appreciate it so much! Thank you!
Very good to see a little of what you do. It would be really great to hear your thoughts of and experiences in Australia. What is it really like down under.
Omg, no lead gloves! I'm an RVN in the UK and have worked at an equine practice- it can be exhausting, so take care. And watch those fingers in the scatter! 💚
When she's in the uk yay!
Thank you so much!
I live right down the road from that Equine Hospital 😲
It's so cool
Holly is in profesh mode
watching this really made me want to become a vet 😅

It was interesting doesn’t playing with the foals in Australia make you look forwards to when your mares have there foals it is exciting
I was interested to hear your comment about range and scope of diagnosis and treatment within BEH. Doctors [human type] from the UK often find the same in Australia--the clinic they work in often has a much bigger range of equipment and facilities than a UK NHS clinic, and as doctors they have much greater discretion over diagnostic tests and treatment. There is an expectation that, as the attending professional, they have the experience and knowledge to decide what needs to be done, and just do it. In the old days, the local GP was more-or-less on their own, whereas now there's a lot of emphasis on supporting sole practitioners with access to expert back-up. Bendigo would not be considered 'remote' by Australian standards, but you can still have that 'lonely' feeling standing in the middle of someone's paddock with a strangely-afflicted horse, especially a valuable one. A lot of your commenters are asking about being large-animal vets, but I suspect your particular gift is having been around horses your whole life, of being completely aware and comfortable with them, riding them, and then also having the clinical knowledge to support that lived experience. Someone learning about horses for the first time at vet school is going to struggle to achieve your level of confidence. I must admit I was freaked-out by the X-raying of the horse, though. I would have thought lead-lined gloves would have been de rigeur for the person holding the plate.
I could NEVER DO YOUR JOB!
Love this video! I knew you were a vet but for some reason I was shocked to see your day. I was like oh she’s a vet vet! I’d love to be a vet but I’m terrified of needles. 😳💉

Hey Holly! I really want to be a vet when I’m older, do you have any tips or anything that you suggest taking for A level and GCSE? Xx
@gracemya7442
3 жыл бұрын
Look at university requirements, most places do prefer biology, chemistry is also a good one to have, and maths is also good as well. With GCSEs, it’s not as important if you’ve already chosen them, but triple science, higher maths (if offered) and literally anything else is good just to know what you’ll expect at a-level.

Well done thanks,
So neat to see your patients. Just curious, is there a reason horses with Afib get oral medication instead of IV? I’m in human anesthesia (CRNA), but I’ve always been fascinated by veterinary anesthesia (if you do another video on your anesthesia rotation that’d be so cool to see!) thanks for sharing!

If I remember correctly it would just be impractical to give it i/v. But of it is available and not cost sensitive some vets might do it that way?
