I totally agree with you! However, those money hungry bosses who are being pressured to save every penny would quickly take away employees so the fewer remaining are working just as hard again. Horrible! I worked in a factory for making truck springs.... it got so hot in there during summer, sometimes on my overnight shift, a couple people would faint and be taken away with ambulance. I never passed out even though I had by far the hottest machine in the place. 2 times the fire sprinkler system went off because of the heat. They expect you to work. There are "Heat Breaks" but not for people like me who's machine is basically a money printing machine. I heard the owner is in the top 200 richest Americans. That's how he treats his employees! I simply could not act that way. Guess that's why I'd never be so filthy rich. I have a heart.

i've been watching a lot of amazon videos like this. from what i can tell, the job is super oppressive and sterile. possibly stressful, especially if you've got a lot of annoying items to pack, yet still need to meet those goals. imagine having a day where you get nothing but annoying to pack items, and you're stressing out that you could lose your job, just from having an unlucky day. i work in warehousing as well. where i have to create entire pallets of stock. but they don't put these pack rate goals onto you. as they understand each order differs in size. and warehouse upkeep like replenishing stock, and dealing with system location and stock count errors is a thing to take into account. as long as you are seen to be working hard, and you're completing the orders within a reasonable time, you're fine. And they encourage communication and banter between employees to keep up morale. they like to keep everyone happy. especially the good workers. but Amazon seems kinda fucked. i'd probably only be able to last a short time working here. Also thanks for filming this. bet it took a lot of courage to try and not get caught with the camera.

It's oppressive hidden underneath smiles. Hard workers are made to work harder. Slow workers are put in places that they don't like so they quit. To survive, be mediocre. As I mention in the video, there was a day i had to pack umbrellas over and over again. I usually don't care about my rate because i work fast and the process assistants know that i work hard. They can't afford to lose me so when they ask me why my rate is low i just tell them "because I had to pack so and so" and they usually adjust my rate somehow. They were pretty shocked when i quit lol. I wish i worked at your warehouse! Good luck and stay safe out there! And yes I'm still scared to this day that Amazon is gonna come after me because of this video lol. Thanks for watching and sharing your story!

However, working at Amazon has also given me the opportunity to just think about my life which I really needed, helped me decide what I really wanted, relationship, job, all that stuff. And also gave me a chance to control my overthinking or negative thinking. This reminds me of working at a Lowes distribution back in my 20's. You had a daily, and hourly quota for items, and a quota for weight loaded for non conveyable. Which made it hell when the loaders in the trailers couldn't keep up with their chutes. September and March were always the worst. September all of the bays would get bombarded with all of the christmas stuff for the stores over the span of two weeks. And March was lawn mowers and tile flooring as far as the eye could see. We would lose good people every year during those periods because they "didn't meet their quota" for a few day's straight. I'll never work at a place like that again. Even if the pay is $15 to $20 an hour.

  • @maakudesuyo

    3 жыл бұрын

1a7 and 1a boxes, basically the small ones, you can usually skip putting dunnage because it will kick out and go to the slammer anyways, especially if the product is very light. On some cases though, when the product looks really fragile, or heavy, I'll put a lot of dunnage. But yeah most of the time for 1a, 1a7 i skip the dunnage. Also, if the item looks like it's a really good fit in the box, like it wouldn't move much, you don't need to put dunnage either. Hope this helps!

The picker machines that you drive around is one specific position under the outbound department. As a packer, you won't get trained in the beginning to drive those machines until you get cross trained or if you request it. As a packer, you will also get trained to be a water spider and taper in the beginning. If you're good, they might keep you as a taper or waterspider multiple days of the week. Hopefully i answered your question! Thanks for watching!

Nice video ! was thinking about working here just because I am unemployed. Tried to be self employed the last 2 months but I have been distracted so haven't achieved much resorting to working a 40 hr job and work on a side hustle. just curious did you just film the pov of a package on your own or did you ask permission. Thanks for sharing your experience ?

Packing at a fulfillment center is definitely pretty different. They need a better system for restocking boxes and envelopes though especially where I am.

On breaks, is it possible to keep a snack in your pocket so that you can just stay at your station? Instead of wasting minutes walking to the break room?

yeah you can search Amazon Fulfilment center. And you can sign up for a text message/email alert when there are openings near your area. Good luck!

This not the same around the country, in my location: PDX9 Pack: We have to tape the bottom, flip, pack, tape, label, and send on the line. (Provided label makers, tape printers, and cutter at station) Units per hour pack : 200 required, easily hitting 268 (station depending). Use to pick at about 458 UPH before I switched.
