Hi friends,
It's been quite a busy season for me so wanted to document an unglamorous work day~ Life can get stressful but I've been trying to enjoy small joys - like this fall season. Anyway, I hope everyone's been well!
Best,
Jenn

Came in expecting five cuts of eating at a snack bar, and going to seminars, or the workplace gym, and instead got actual work related content. Thanks for sharing this.

Omg me too. I literally just came from a video that's a "daily life of a software engineer" but the whole video was food + unboxing a new laptop + a game day with coworkers.. like yeah that's totally their daily routine..
@toba802

@@snowbird7254well it was probably just one day. You don’t know if that’s how everyday actually is for them, since every workplace is different, so it’s important not to judge

It's funny that this is the expectation when women make such videos. And it's true, that's all I was seeing, at least until they have been first to be laid off.
As a software engineer it’s honestly scary how relatable this video is 😭

Thank you for actually showing a work day that looks realistic and stressful, and you've definitely taught me that even though things seem very difficult and stressful it is possible to make it through and sees is through to the end. Seeing that things aren't perfect all the time is honestly more relieving than I thought and it is important to remember that everyone has ups and downs and goes through difficulties so I certainly feel a lot less terrified to graduate next year...

appreciate the support! there definitely can be lots lows of work life balance.. but it helps build resilience for future challenges 😇
This is my first time watching one of your videos, and I think the timing could not have been better. I've been stressed at my first "adult" job which is remote and I think I needed to see another young professional not having a perfect day. It's honestly more motivating to see someone be stressed, have a bad day, and work through it to the end than to see someone whose life just seems perfect, so thank you, Jenn

Appreciate the kind words~ I hope you get through this stressful period as well. Adjusting to first "adult" job is a hurdle itself 🥲 but keep going! you got this :)

Definitely what I needed to hear, thank you so much!! :)
As someone going through bad long hectic days at work, watching this is really helpful. Thank you Jen ❤
This video is so relatable, thank you! This is literally my life right now. Additionally daytime in Seattle nowadays is super short, and with the end of H2 coming fast, I think that also compounds onto the stress at this time of the year. Learning to manage expectations across stakeholders and set healthy boundaries gets easier with time and practice. It's always better to say no with good justification, than say yes and burn yourself out.
Thank you for showing a real you and a real day of your life, it's always nice to know that sometimes there are just not so great days, but we can always push through. Keep on going!
Thanks for sharing this! I'm a software engineer as well and some days are sooooo stressful and overwhelming so this is very realistic. When I get super stressed I just tell myself that it's temporary and every project has a finish line :)
Unbelievably chill vlog. Love it.
It's my first time seeing howl this active like in all other videos he was just staring or sitting in the background but in this video his natural instinct woke up 😂.....btw howl is soo beautiful

Hi Jenn! I've been a long time viewer of your channel and I just want to say that you have inspired me so much! I'm a senior in university studying CS, and I really hope to get into big tech. This honesty is so refreshing to me, and it's reassuring, since right now the job market is tough. Thank you!!
This is my first time watching your video. I really appreciate how you dare to show the bad side of adult working life, I know it's really tiring and stressing. Appreciate the mindset that you didn't stop filming only because it's a bad day. Keep it up the good work. If you're having a bad day, remember it's not only you and I hope this comment makes your day. Have a great day ahead dear Jenn Cho.
Everything online is glamorized nowadays so that’s great you’re able to show the not so great days. It definitely takes a little bit of vulnerability to do so. There’s always going to be better days though. Keep doing what you’re doing. Love the videos! 😊✨

Well it may be the same job but it looks different for every person depending on where they work, especially since someone may buy certain things to romanticise school or glamourise their life, so it’s important not to judge 😊

You got this Jenn! You got this!! ❤
Great insight into a realistic work day as a software engineer, there are definitely days where things get very stressful. Been going through it myself past couple weeks with a MVP for a new system that we have been working on for the past couple months, last weeks bug fixes and testing is just a huge mental drain, but things always get better :)
it’s really refreshing to see a real routine and a real situation, so thanks for sharing even the stressful parts!!! also, howl’s soooo cute and i love how talkative and playful he is 🥺🩷
such a calming vlog thankyou so much i was super stressed but after watching ur vlogs im happy
i love that you're so authentic
i do appreciate the transparency, i am currently in school for engineering and using these types of videos to get a glimpse of what i am getting myself into. so thank u
Hope you can overcome the challenges, Jenn! Thanks for sharing this side. 8:32 Agreed, sometimes I procrastinate filming waiting for a "better" day.

Howl is a cutie! 💜 Loved this vlog. Thanks for showing the unglamorous side of tech jobs (been there before). Seems like you have the right mindset and approach to get you through the busy times. Respect.
Hi Jenn !! Thank you for showing us the reality of life, as you said, working in technology is often romanticized and you need to know that there are two sides like everything in life
Your kitty is so cute and is just like mine ha. Very vocal when he wants something. Also, I appreciate seeing a realistic day from you! I think a lot of us prefer to see real work days and all the motions that go with it. You are one of my new favorite channels to watch! I hope the rest of this week goes well for you and is less stressful! :)

I haven't had any fun lately, 😭 so it was fun. You bring me joy!❤🙂I love the kind and generous heartwarming atmosphere that you create, your kind, easygoing, warm vibe. ❤I like the essence how you live on. I need to be true to myself and find a job I am passionate about. I want to find a way to live as who I really am.
in love with the way you tell stories. hoping to emulate this.
I loved this realistic side. Thanks for sharing that. Also your channel seems so interesting, I'm quite happy that I stumbled upon it
Not sure how I came across your videos ... but totally dig them!! Thanks for sharing!
OMG your cat is soooo adorable!!! And I can see he loves you so much❤❤❤
Your morning routine to your kitty to your office was beautifully planned. Looks like you got this your intelligent and passionate in your career. Wow you still working extended hours even coming home. Those are my next headphones by Sony I have the older xm3 which are still great but for conference calls I want those! Keep up the awesome work 🙂
your video give me lots of casual , so thank you and have a nice vocation!
OHHHHHH one more video! Let's go!
thank you for this realistic day in a life, good style of video!
"hello world" that is such a nice touch lol
Finally someone to show the more realistic "day in the life" video. Although I'm working in IT, I know exactly how you feel. Just relax and keep pushing, turn the negative thoughts into positive. Good luck!
Thank you for making this one 😊
Love the Morning routine
i just got into big tech as a SWE intern (in the seattle area too)! 😊 a huge part of it honestly was the motivation and inspiration i found from your videos, so thank you! definitely one of my fav youtubers & role models:) hoping i can will myself to make vids of my own soon enough :>

hello, sweetheart. i just bumped into your video. thank you for sharing the realistic part of working in tech industry. im also a worker in tech industry and i can relate to how you feel in the video because everyday is just another stressful day :") the thing about working in this industry that it's not always glamorous and fun. stressful days when we have so much on our plates do exist. whatever it is, i hope you always find a few relaxing time to recharge everyday. watch your favorite drama, pamper yourself, and play with howl! sending you so much love and support!
This is for sure a realistic software engineer work day, as SWE we deal with tons of things daily that usually we just show the bright side to others. Thanks for sharing. P.S. Loved your cat’s named.
Thank you for the realistic content. I have started a corporate job and while other bloggers may mean to be aesthetic, the glamourization made it unrelatable for me, whereas this one I felt very connected with
love how genuine it is
Thank u so much for sharing this "not so glamour side" of working in tech. I have bad days in my tech company too and I think we need to normalize it more. Especially being a woman, we often work on cycles every month so we need to be gentle with ourselves 💕 edit: HOWL IS SO CUTE
I like your videos so much. Howl is so cute. Can you please make a separate vlog on him? Like about his healthcare, neutering and how he spends time home alone.
i am currently a first-year computer science student and you motivatee me sooo muuuch
good luck !
you just gained a new susbcriber, not a dev but also work in tech and love seeing other women who have similar jobs.
Yaayyyyyyy.... new video is up
Thank you for sharing 💗✨️🙏🏻
Gain strength every time I watch your videos! Hope you are healthy and happy!
Howl´s vibing heavy before go to bed....😅😅😅..... Amazing video by the way Jenn..

Very relatable vid great vlog 🔥🩵
I'm a software engineer too and I feel the same everytime I go to the office. It's nice to meet the teammates but I lose a lot of time commuting and at the end of the day I don't have time to do anything, just eat and some relax
Thank you so much for sharing this day in your life, despite having more stress and less glamour than others. This feels more like slice of life than many of the “day in the life…” videos. Not to say that every ‘realistic’ day would be like this one, but more so that days like this are part of reality in SWE life.
You look on every video so chill :DD
You got this! 💪🏼 Also, we need more Howl content 😻

This is a candid glimpse into the authenticity of your profession! It instantly connects with the transformative teachings I gained from my lifecoach Lisa Haisha during a retreat in the Philippines. Both your genuine portrayal and her insightful guidance inspire greatness in embracing the unfiltered reality of professional life. Cheers to the beauty of authenticity and the continuous journey towards personal growth
this video is so real. still can't wait till I graduate tho
your cat is so cute, I loved him🥰
Relate to the needing alone time at lunch. lol. Also the 8pm meetings with people in Asia.
Man, waking up at 8am and still have time for bathroom routine and breakfast before work. That's a luxury for sure xD And you're even home around 6pm by the looks of things. Guessing commute isn't that far? Most days I'm up at 6am, work starts 7:30 and I'm moving non-stop until 3pm (home nurse), then maybe .5-2 hours overtime for office work to round off the day. Workout, afternoon nap (nearing your 40s is rough), dinner and 2-3 hours of personal time before bed at 10pm... Luckily I like my job cuz it really feels like I have no life outside of it. -.-
I saw South Lake Union, in Seattle. A LOT of tech there. Not a fan of Seattle, but that area is really pretty!
Cats or dogs always have a way to make your day better.
Wow finally Realistic Work Day vlog *Woke up at 08:00 AM* So i guess my work is not realistic, because i have to woke at 06:00 AM
I really love your video. You make me love study English. Oh my god. Thank you very very very much. Love
Watching video in the middle of my unglamorous & realistic work day. Hopefully Q4 chills out more towards the end!
Can you tell me what product you use for bidet and air purifier??
I love your kitty! So handsome. I hope it got better for you
You are my inspiration because it must be said that there are very few less women in engineering. It's very rare to see girls in this world(you know engineering) and i'm glad to have found you, already a faithful follower.
Please extend the duration of your vlogs

Honestly, your "bad days" at work is just normal days for me
I still don't get companies sending people to the office. Stand-up is through a video-conference and for the rest, the office seems quite empty. Same as the place where I work (IT as well). Almost totally empty and most people don't want to be on those Agile rooms anymore. Most guys are going to the office and isolate themselves to avoid being bothered by the rest. I really prefer WFH.

Best wishes to you that you won't get burnt out like me. Some nosy 3rd tier advice: Don't buy what you don't need (don't go revenge spending) and try to save as much as you can for if or when you truly do get burnt out, you at least get the luxury to buy the time to ride out the burnt pain and self reflect to discover what you're missing all this time. Do note, I still haven't found my answer, so apologies that I don't have more to share.
It's a very good approach to do a code review before every commit. But sometimes our team members are not very active in the review phase. Do you have any technique to encourage them to be more active?
