DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEDICAL CODER, TIPS FOR BEGINNERS, NEW BOOK I’M READING + MORE

Ойын-сауық

In this video you’ll be watching my regular work day at home. I’ve been coding since 2016. Starting out as an evaluation and management coder and then became a surgical coder in 2020. I work from home full-time (Monday-Friday).
There’s plenty of medical coding videos on my channel. So, if this video intersts you, feel free to check them out.
I’ll be bringing some extra content ideas to my channel as well.
Such as: Book reviews on novel’s that i’ve enjoyed. Possibly some Sims 4 gameplay. I’d love to start budgeting on my channel as well but first I have to increase my side hustle earnings.

I couldn't help but notice it looks like you work in the Epic system. I recently started a new position and all our clinics are on Epic. Do you work out of the charge review work queue and do you have to abstract all codes or do your providers choose their codes then have you review for completeness and accuracy?

Yes I work out of charge review! So, cool that you’re familiar with EPIC. I have to abstract the codes for procedures, surgeries, and hospital charges when my providers are there.

Ooo I forgot about The Silent Wife! When I worked at a retirement home, a resident was reading it and it looked so good! It’s on my kindle waiting to be finished😅also, the clip from Matilda was perfect.. lmao. I know how it is to also get “yelled at” by your man because you’re reading too much. I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!🦃

Thanks Rachelle! I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving as well. I’m just a few pages away from finishing the book. It had me hooked from beginning to end. Can’t wait to share! I also finished The Wife Between Us. Girl….. 🙄 The ending 🤦🏾‍♀️ I have to share my thoughts.

@@ShamyraC I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the wife between us! That book shocked me.. I believe there’s another book by the same author called an anonymous girl that I want to read too.

Shamyra, love the channel. Quick question: I only have my CPC-A but I love OB-GYN coding. Would you recommend getting the COBGC credential?

Some say wait 1-2 years of coding OBGYN before sitting for the exam but it depends on your comfortability. Check the AAPC for their COBGC practice exam and see how you do. Time yourself to see if you’d be able to complete it in time.
