Hi my name is Laquita. I am a Risk Adjustment Medical Coder and I hold 3 certifications from the AAPC which are: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), COC (Certified Outpatient Code), and a CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder). I was inspired to make this channel because there were hardly any Day In The Life of a Medical Coder videos on the KZread platform. I hope you enjoy my content!

How many years did it take you to get a remote job?
I used to work bedside but now I have mobility problems. I thought about going to school for this but I couldn’t find anyone showing the general gist as to how this actually works. Thank you! I definitely feel this is something I can handle(at least out of the ICD 10 lol)
This is Great!! I took my CPC 7 years ago and missed by only 4 pts, I plan on studying and retaking it by the end of 2023. I have worked doing Healthcare, mostly on the Pharmacy side which is different from the medical side. I prefer the medical side because that's where my training is.
Thank you so so much. You saved me from giving up. I'm almost done with my course now. I've asked friends questions and did my research, and I felt coding was easy and right for me. But when I got to CDT I was like, nah, I can't do this. Like why isn't it as breezy as ICD 10. But you're showing me I could choose jobs that only work with ICD 10. BTW I also always wanted my own office. 1 question: How many cases do you work each day. Thank you so much for your videos. You saved me 🙏🏽
Greetings, I am new to your channel. Give thanks for keepin it real. I am currently in the beginning stages of getting my CSS. Your videos are very inspiring and helpfull.
Looking forward to this video! New sahm looking for a career and really interested in it… A little hesitant with the schooling. Excited to see someone who looks like me talking about it!
Thank you for being so real, I appreciate you!
So glad I found this site! I'm interested in starting medical billing and coding from the beginning...you are awesome!!! I'm so motivated....🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💐💐💐

I start my medical and billing certification class next month so excited
Thank you so much for all that info. About your office. I have something similar. I work from home. I also have side projects and I also have another desk etc. I realized we use our eyes all day at work, then after work, then we look at our phone. I finally bought some glasses that help with blue light. I only use them after work on my projects but it helps to give my eyes a break. I know I can adjust my computer etc but I rather use the glasses. Thank you once again for all that info, it will help me plan on what to do next.

Miss you. Wait I don't think you told us why this will be your last video. You are such an inspiration. I've been working my first new medical job now for 5 months. I'm not license yet they are giving me a year to get certified. After I saw your video that jobs do hire coders without experience I never gave up. Thank You. Where did you get your Believe acrylic LED block from that's on your personal desk? and Do you have any chair recommendation for sitting long hours trying to put in these overtime hours lol.

I missed you all too :). I will explain why I will no longer make the DITL vids in another video coming probably next week. That's great they are giving you a year to get certified. You said "After I saw your video that jobs do hire coders without experience I never gave up.". Are you saying you found a medical coding position without an actual certification? Wow! That's an amazing story. Please share (If you don't mind). The believe acrylic block on my personal desk was purchased from Home Goods in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i6Fpz5KLo8XPnLg.html. I don't have a chair recommendation. The chair I have sucks lol which I purchased from Sam's club for like $98 at the time.

Hi Laquita. What’s your recommendation for a latina not located in northamerica(USA & Canada) that would like to start working in this field? Thank you so much for your videos. I’ve learned a lot
I work as an HHA right now. Im interested in medical billing and coding because its more lucrative. Plus, im tired of not having the option to work from home.
I have a couple questions about this line of work. Do people generally just work during the day? Can somebody work at night if they wanted to? When looking for jobs, does one look up jobs locally, or can we work for anyone?
Would like you to go through your office set-up, your screens and do you use online codes or just the book
❤❤❤❤ let’s do more practice quizzes
I am still in training, and right now I am trying to figure out how to get efficient, right now, I underline key words and write my codes next to the words, so wanted to see how coders really do it, one lady I watched used a tablet on the side
Great information. You stated you started as an apprentice, what company do you work for? Did the company you work for pay for you to get certified?
I graduated and still studying until I'm ready

There are various online platforms offering medical coding courses that have gained positive recognition. It’s essential to research thoroughly, consider reviews, course offerings, accreditation, and potential job placement assistance before choosing a program. Some individuals also utilize community college programs. I can't personally endorse any. Once I endorse a company, I become associated/affiliated with that company. If I create a video recommending a medical coding school or resume writing service, it will position me as a spokesperson for that company, endorsing their products. If individuals sign up for these services based on my influence and end up dissatisfied, I'll bear the responsibility for it and I'm not willing to take on that burden which is why I've never done any sponsorships on this channel.
I’m scheduled to take my CCSP next month . I want to code please give more tips. I work from home doing something different and also where did you get your desk.

Is it possible to get a coding job with no experience? I just went to school for billing and coding however, I'll be taking my cpc exam in November. Should I wait to take the exam, or are there jobs out there that could hire because of the education? I feel like this is the career I want, but i get turned away. It's discouraging.
@Ms.Laquita
6 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes, you can find a job w/o any experience. I started as a CPC-A with no experience. The opportunities are out there, but it takes patience and whole lot of due diligence. There are several newly certified individuals out there competing for the same opportunities. It sounds like a cliche, but Consistency really is key when searching for entry level coding roles.
I already graduated and now I need to take my certification exam and so I am studying for that. I love coding but I don’t feel quite ready, but I want to work remotely. I do have a question: does coding with the one book mean less pay compared to coding with additional books?
@Ms.Laquita
6 ай бұрын
I honestly don't know if Risk Adjustment Coding pay is less compared to the other coding positions requiring coding using the other code sets. I have been sought out for companies requiring coding with the other manuals. I honestly can't say the pay is really any different.
I got the same printer and its giving me the same problem
Is there a reason you wouldn't have the tabs organized by letter? It seems like that would make it faster to look up, knowing where each letter starts, because there is no way anyone can remember all the different number codes.
@Ms.Laquita

I have letter tabs. If I didn't have the letter tabs, I would still be okay flipping through the book w/o detrimental problems.

Handwritten charts don't apply to all medical coding positions. You may only deal with digital charts. It depends on your company process.
Thanks for sharing I completed school back in 2011, I never worked in the field would like to start now. The reason I started with the CPC is to have my options open. I wasn't going for a Risk Adjustment role at the time. My job accept a CPC to get hired. They accept CPC-A as well. The best way to know what you should start with is to look at job postings to see what certification they want. You will see CPC alot even for risk adjustment coding positions.

Hello there! Congrats on getting certified! I don't know of any companies hiring CPC-As at the moment. Everything I said in this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmWcpNCzltvTlpc.html is how I found a job as an apprentice. How many jobs do you apply to a week? Have you looked over your resume to see what can be done better? Are you networking in AAPC chapter meetings? I applied to so many jobs. I stayed up all night many nights applying.
