Hi! Thank you for this valuable video. As someone from a non-business degree, I'm scared of not being up-to par with business students who are interested in consulting. Since you're in this industry, could you offer some advice on how much finance/accounting knowledge one needs? Do you also advise taking courses in other subjects that could help someone from a non-business degree hone executive skills? (e.g strategy, analysis, leadership, etc.) Thanks a lot!

Hi Alicia! Almost no accounting or finance knowledge is needed for the case interview - lots of engineers and now liberal arts majors spot to consulting and succeed. For when you start working in consulting, basic business acumen is helpful - watch KZread videos on strategy and some finance - no formal education needed given the amazing online resources available. Read business newsletters that interest you - for me, I had read Retail Brew for the latest and greatest in the consumer retail world. Some business case study books are helpful and interesting too - think HBS cases, Stanford GSB cases, etc. Other helpful subjects: data analysis (helps you stand out in case interviews if you apply principles and tie it to business impact). Honestly, pick some industries you find genuinely interesting (sustainable energy, crypto, retail, healthcare, etc.) and read / learn about companies, trends, business models, industry dynamics, etc :)
