Day In My Life in Japan | We Hiked to the Most Extreme Campsite in Japan (Harder than Fuji! 🥵)

Japan Van Life Ch 15 - Karasawa Cirque (Kamikochi)
We’re back at it again with the extreme hiking 💀. This time we’re in the stunningly beautiful Japanese alps, heading for the rocky “Karasawa curl” 2310m up in the air for a spot of extreme camping. But this being Nagano, famous for its onsen monkeys, we aren’t hiking alone; monkeys roam these mountains and we saw plenty of them along the way!
Come with us on an epic hike full of monkey mayhem in Japan’s most beautiful mountain range known for being one of the best autumn leaf viewing spots in the country!

Most of us in the USA think of Japan as crowded and full of working stiff. Nice to see the other sides of Japan. I always admire the Japanese people and culture. Thanks for sharing.

We’re lucky to be able to see that it’s far from it! Thank you for watching ☺️ and you’ll have to let us know if America really is like this or not since I’ve only ever seen cities 😆

The topography of the Japanese archipelago is rugged, with mountainous terrain, including volcanic areas and hills, covering about 75% of the land. The mountainous terrain is carved into small valleys. Slopes are generally steep and largely forested. The altitude of the region in the central part of the country is over 3,000m. Please come to Japan for a hike!

Great effort, and nice you got to see so many monkeys. We were there in Nagano in November 2018 and told it was breeding season and none of the monkeys were at the onsen, and sure enough monkey cam showed there weren't any so ended up doing other things.

Such a shame to come all that way and miss them 😢. Luckily Nagano is not somewhere you can get bored of quickly (I hope? 😅). I had no idea they bred in November, though! I visited the monkey onsen once before but I think seeing them like this is just a completely different experience because you see them playing and eating rather than just chilling 😂. Would definitely recommend a visit in the future!

How is it chapter 15 already ?! I love just how obvious kiwi and bear love and support one another ❤️ Also Bear can keep you company on the hikes and long walks, I will cheer you on in spirit. But the issue is I love exploring and views, so guess I have to walk 😫
