One thing I've learned from cats is that the cuter they are, the more miserable you are. My cat back when she was a kitten often made my day a lot harder but as she grows up, she gradually getting calmer and more snuggly, though she's no longer a kitten. I had to make a trip to kitchen ware store twice in a week cause that lil bugger knocked the dishes I'm washing off the damn counter, twice in that week. Don't get fooled by their cuteness, you fell for it on your own peril.

My husband and I got engaged in Japan during Tanabata and loved the tradition so much we incorporated it into our wedding - we tied our own wishes to bamboo during our ceremony and asked our guests to tie wishes to bamboo as a guestbook. Here to talk about trivia although no one asked for it! The old lunar calendar runs about a month later seasonally than the Gregorian western calendar. When the western modern calendar was adopted, there were two camps of thought. One camp including the people of Sendai said let's keep celebrating things around the same time of year. This also goes for many regions in Asia observing Lunar New Year in what is approximately February on the Gregorian calendar. The other camp including the Japanese government said that since celebrations with repeated odd numbers like New Years (January 1st), Hina-doll festival (March 3rd), Children's day (May 5th), Tanabata (July 7th), and Cho-yo chrysanthemum festival (September 9th) are celebrated in part to ward-off the bad luck of too much Yin energy, it should be celebrated on the day with those numbers on whatever calendar everyone is using at the time. Hence, the Japanese national holiday of Children's day is held on May 5th. Thanks for reading my unwarranted bit of trivia.

Tanabata was traditionally celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th Lunar calendar month of which the exact date differs each year on the western calendar! Each Lunar calendar month has 30 days, the 1st is always a new moon and the 15th is always a full moon! (Sometimes plus or minus one day in the west due to time zone different, say sometimes it's was full moon a day early on 14th in the UK but full moon on 15th in Hong Kong)

I love the robust flavor of Hojicha! The roasted flavor makes it almost like a light coffee without the jitters.

Ooh I love festivals and yukata! Definitely wore mine the wrong way around a few times, and probably too short. Also, I was already laughing about the birthday celebration and then Chris turning his wave into a photobomb made me laugh so hard, I coughed!

Very quick but sweet video. I miss our local festivals and travelling fairs even though I get sick on the rides the games and food were always fun. I hope 2023 sees them make a come back.
