FULL DAYS DESCRIPTION BELOW
Our adventure to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, through travel company Intrepid.
November 2015.
This was out last day with the first group in Vietnam, and we had a drive to Ben Tre where we had a lovely boat trip that took us to a coconut candy factory over the river, called Phong Phu.
We had the chance to drink Scorpion Cobra Rice Wine and see how they go about using every part of the coconut for various products, including the very yummy coconut sweets!
We then had a tuk tuk ride, which was a lot of fun with branches smacking our heads. We had a short stop to eat some fruit then back on the tuk tuk to our lunch stop. Some of us went to look at the Monkey Bridge, which was interesting, a narrow bridge that never used to have anything to hold onto, and people crossing would have to go over like a monkey.
The highlight was the return trip on a sampan boat, complete with conical hats!
Back on the main boat again and we made our way back to the dock.
On return to Saigon we had a little free time before our dinner later on (many of the group went to Fanny's for some ice cream).
Our final meal was in Koto's, which is a restaurant for street kids to try get a better start in life. The food was excellent! This meal and the Halong Bay Junk Boat food was easily the best I'd had while in Vietnam.
Turns out it was Margaret's birthday and the lights went off and a birthday cake was brought to the table, it was lovely!
We took some group photos and on return to the hotel, went to the top floor for a few cocktails.
Vietnam was very nearly over and the group was to change over tomorrow to the Cambodia tour.
