It’s all your fault!!! 😊 About a month and a half ago I went to a group lunch and sat next to Fireball’s aunt. She was telling me all about her niece, the Pacific Crest Trail, your KZread channel, Fireball and Roadrunner. I checked it out that evening, watched your pre-hike videos then went to day 1, watched it, caught up with the others, and have watched your daily videos ever since - as well as those by your cohorts. The other day I was driving home on some back roads, passed over a little creek and heard myself say “River crossing!” Have I been watching too much??! 😊

.. you're right , some places are tough to follow, especially when the terrain is changed by snow ,,, is a smart must to have a printed map of the trail or have downloaded on your device,,, but relying on tech can be a gamble .. ..when you get into town pick up some Permethrin for your outerwear and tent .. it works ..with the snowmelt,,puddles,,ponds and lakes they are a part of the trail environment...

PER CHATGPT: PCT WINS! ### General Consensus: - **Overall Toughness:** The PCT is often viewed as the tougher trail overall due to its physical and logistical challenges. However, the AT is not far behind and is often seen as mentally tougher due to its relentless terrain and weather conditions. - **Suitability:** Hikers with strong navigation and wilderness skills might find the PCT's remoteness and varied climates more challenging but rewarding. Those who are mentally resilient and can handle continuous physical exertion and less varied terrain might find the AT tougher in a different way. Ultimately, both trails are significant undertakings, and the perceived toughness can vary greatly depending on individual experiences and strengths. Many experts emphasize that preparation, both physical and mental, is key to successfully completing either trail.

And what is ChatGpt saying about the CDT? 😊 After watching the CDT-Movie of Austin Seder ('Along the Way'), i would say that this trail is harder concerning monotony (landscapes, roadwalking), little weather protection and lenght.

@@michel.h_cf99 The Continental Divide Trail (CDT) is generally considered tougher than the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and the Appalachian Trail (AT) for several reasons: 1. **Length and Elevation**: - **CDT**: Approximately 3,100 miles with significant elevation changes, often at higher altitudes. - **PCT**: About 2,650 miles, also with considerable elevation changes but often at more manageable altitudes. - **AT**: Roughly 2,200 miles with frequent but less severe elevation changes compared to the CDT. 2. **Terrain**: - **CDT**: Features rugged and remote terrain, including deserts, high mountains, and forests. The trail can be less defined in certain areas. - **PCT**: Generally well-maintained with a variety of terrains, including desert, forest, and mountain ranges. - **AT**: Known for its rocky and root-filled paths, it is often considered more challenging for its constant ups and downs, though it is well-marked and maintained. 3. **Navigation**: - **CDT**: Often requires advanced navigation skills as the trail can be poorly marked in places, and hikers might need to use maps, GPS, and compass. - **PCT**: Well-marked and easier to follow, with clear signage and established paths. - **AT**: Very well-marked with frequent blazes and signs, making navigation straightforward. 4. **Resupply and Logistics**: - **CDT**: Fewer resupply points and longer stretches between towns, requiring more logistical planning and carrying heavier loads. - **PCT**: More frequent resupply points, though some sections still require careful planning. - **AT**: Frequent access to towns and resupply points, making it logistically easier. 5. **Weather and Environmental Challenges**: - **CDT**: Extreme weather conditions, including snow, thunderstorms, and high-altitude challenges. - **PCT**: Varied weather, from desert heat to mountain snow, but generally less extreme than the CDT. - **AT**: More predictable weather patterns, though it can still be challenging with rain, heat, and occasional snow. Overall, the CDT's combination of length, elevation, rugged terrain, navigation challenges, and logistical difficulties make it generally tougher than the PCT and the AT.
