Mosey- The heat is a real enemy during a hike. Your idea of getting to Harper’s Ferry and flipping to Katadin is not a bad thing. It is hot in Maine but not what you are enduring . A flip-flop will increase your odds of finishing greatly. You already have trail legs that some SOBOS will have to develop. Know that I am rooting for you. Hike safe and listen to your body. It won’t lie to you. Hike on Mosey.

Just to say, don't take it for granted that Maine will always be cooler in the middle of the summer. I hiked up Katahdin in 90-degree heat. Admittedly, the Mainers considered it a heatwave while I just thought of it as mid-summer, but there is much less variation in weather from top to bottom than many people assume. I have also talked to SoBos who were confused by the 20-degree weather in the McAfee area in early November one year. They had thought they were beating the winter by heading South. Nobody can walk fast enough to escape either winter or summer in eastern North America. I mean, I have been in Quebec City in nearly 100-degree heat.

Sorry you are having struggles with heat😞. I did get a chuckle from you saying that it felt like gravity was pulling you backwards. The long pants would heat me up this time of year. I prefer shorts when hiking if possible. Keep moving along at your pace an you will overcome the trials of the trek.

Its hot and muggy here in Maine too! Just spent the weekend in Baxter and did some hiking...drenched in sweat but so worth it but I could not imagine not being able to have a shower after a day like that :)...heading north earlier probably would not make any difference for you right now. Sending prayers and positive thoughts! You are doing AMAZING! KT tape is good stuff btw...hope it helps.

Just got caught up on your videos! Yay, Mosey….out there killing it. I have used the injinji for years, but this summer had to switch to the lighter, lower rise Injini liners b/c those tall ones were making my feet hot too! Wearing glasses keeps most of those annoying bugs out of my eyes…and like you, have found that pulling up my hood helps keep them out of my ears. Loving your journey, lady!

Look at the PUDS as keeping it interesting. Without them, all our trails would be flat and boring instead of exciting. 😊

When I used to go hiking always wore two pairs of socks thin pair of wicking socks and a thick pair of wool socks and never had a blister ever

Glad you got to visit Three Lil Pigs - one of my fav places down there. 😊 Two socks is way too hot for my feet - causes me blister issues. I do just an injinji liner most of the time. Congrats on being 1/3 done! I’d vote for the flip myself…

2 pairs of socks cut down on the friction. That could help the blisters on the heels.

I hope you flip up north,.. I'm about 30 minutes from Harper's Ferry and the temps this year have been crazy. I know Maine & NH can get hot too,.. but when I visit, it just seems cooler.

All the hikers I'm following are overwhelmed by the heat dome. It may not gt too much better for while, but you're chugging right along anyway.

Maybe you can just wear injinji by themselves. Nice surprise on 1/3 thru. Congratulations! Flipping up will certainly get you some chilly weather in places. 😊❤

Congratulations on 1/3! I don't like to use Injinji socks. I don't like things between my toes. I will stop, midhike, to take my shoes and socks off if there's something in-between my toes. How did the brace work? Was it comfortable and did it make a difference?

1/3 done! Congrats! 🎉🎉 Aren't you too hot in those long pants? For me, long sleeves in the heat is fine, but I can't stand it when my legs can't breathe 😅

I’m not sure how you’re going to get through PA and then the Whites if you think VA is hard? Just keeping it real
