Day 7: I Rattled In Six Bucks (At Least!)
Day 7: I Rattled In Six Bucks (At Least!)
Late October. Cold Weather. Bedding Area. I took a stand and sticks and picked the right tree in the dark, resulting in one of the best sits so far this season. Shortly after sunrise, a rattling sequence brought a line of bucks in on a string.

Just found this channel. I love the direct, no distraction format of your videos. No music, no big lead into it just great footage of hunts. Extremely well done. This hunt looked and felt intense!

@@jaredmillsjust came across your video man talk about anything but amazing stuff. What kinda of camera setup did you use to get all this footage? Plus what type of cammo is this? So cool. Definitely subscribed to your channel and can’t wait to watch your amazing adventures.
This is the first video I've seen that had it all. Rattling, grunting, snort wheezing, sparring, bleating. Just awesome.
The vocalizations in the beginning are killer!!! I’d bet 90% of hunters have never actually head a buck snort wheeze in the woods. Great video.

Watching your videos have taught me more about real life deer behavior in the wild than anything I’ve read or seen hunting myself in 20 plus years. It’s almost like watching National Geographic about deer hunting. Thanks for doing what you do!!

That's awesome, glad you enjoy it! I appreciate you following along!
There are deer hunting videos. But not many deer videos like this one! Made me feel like I was in that stand! Thanks Jared!
That was some of the best video footage, color, sound of a hunt I've ever seen. When the nine point buck rack was perfectly showing above the cluster of oak leaves which the deer had his face hid in, and only one eye showing, made me feel like I was in the stand living it. Nice work,!!
Sick snort wheeze, super clean footage 👌
Crazy you've seen more mature bucks just this yr then most people see in 10. Incredible

Great video Jared. I appreciate all the guys that hunt hardwoods and not just sit over food plots in a buck hut condo. Keep up the good work. We enjoy it!

No question you’re getting the best footage out there this year, you are killing it !!
What a great morning hunt. Great tip on the timing of calling and thermals. That tree was a good find in the dark. Thanks
Man, the best footage I’ve seen all season. Jared mills is the man👍🏽
interesting non-typical pattern in some of these bucks. great video Jared.
THIS video shows how its done! What a fun day that must have been. Really nice to hear the vocals from the deer, and even better to observe the actions of so many deer arriving at the same site. Great tips about WHEN to rattle to take advantage of the thermals before daily winds start picking up. When the two bucks began their sparing I was thinking this could REALLY get good if the two bucks started a REAL fight. They would have done the ratting work for you. What could have been better than that? AWESOME video. Thanks for sharing it.

Such an awesome video. Thank you for explaining some of your rattling tactics, very helpful as always. Great content.
That is truly an amzing hunt. My grandpa just passed away yesterday and this video was so far the first thing ive watched or heard that didnt make it worse. Thank you Jared.
Jared, you never disappoint. You have a plethora of knowledge that you don't mind sharing. It's always a treat to watch and learn from you.Hope your season is safe and prosperous.
First vid I've viewed, actually showing a deer snort wheeze. When i hunted 25 yrs ago, never heard of it. Now many Tubers are doing so. That deer had some character. Very cool vid!
Great work Jared. I started watching a year ago, and just an excellent job. I love the no frills, no music, but with quality hunting real life footage.
That was some of the coolest and clearest vocalizations I've ever heard. Amazing morning to be in the woods!

Thank you. I lean something every time I watch you hunt.
One of my favorite deer hunting channels to watch! I'm so glad you are on your own now!! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Action packed! Love it
Wow Jared, what an amazing hunt and once again great footage!! That snort weeze was awesome!!
You are probably my favorite hunter to watch! Very informative and tell the story behind what you are doing and what has just occurred! Not a big show type person just a everyday hunter! Following a passion for white tail deer! Love the videos! Hope you have great success this year! Looking forward to more videos!!👍🏻

You got yourself one quality piece of hunting property. Even the young ones have some great potential with all the junk on them. Great vedio as expected Jared!
Glad for you but most guys don't live in an area with that many bucks ....I used to watch stuff like this and dream about such stuff but it's not realistic for most people. I've changed my thoughts after 25 yrs of videos. Enjoy your your hunts and be thankful for what it's like.....I started when seeing a deer was so exciting! Passing a deer was crazy! A shot at a deer was something to be proud to have accomplished.
That snort wheeze! Awesome footage!
this hunt is a perfect example of why i watch Jareds channel
I had to pause and rewind when that doe called! Wow Jared this hunt had it all brotha. Thanks for the content and good luck this season. I been out 2 times so far. Once in a box blind and passed on a young 8 point. Finally got back in a tree yesterday but didnt see anything. Its still early here in NC.
It rained almost every day here in my area most of the summer then toward the end and here at fall it is as dry as can be. I thought it was going to be good but ehd has all but nuked the deer. I hate ehd so bed and wish we had a way to get rid of all biting flies, gnats and ticks! Those are some good looking bucks Jared and i wish you well this season, be safe!
Hey Jared as always thanks for bringing us along man. Here's an update from michigan the best part of the rut for hunters is in full effect right now. Have you shared what your targets are? I fully respect it if you haven't.
Wow, I wouldn't have been able to contain myself, I would've taken one of them
My goodness that’s a heck of a hunt and I’m only halfway thru the video…..I’d love to experience something like that but unfortunately in South Georgia it don’t play out like that 😂. Glad to see your still doing wonderful hunting after Midwest whitetails
Absolutely amazing footage Jarod. Just unbelievable how much trigger control you have. Total jealousy on my part. Kudos!

Incredible, I saw two does that morning. One was sniffing my tree step lol. Still haven’t seen a buck. Back November 11
Awsome footage Jared, I envy the deer you see almost every hunt. I hunt Public in Indiana and if I did a rattle sequence here every buck within a mile would run 3 miles. We just don't have the deer you have in Iowa. At least not in my part of Indiana. Love your channel.
Some great bucks there Jared! Hope you get a crack at the big one you are chasing. Great footage ! Brandon

Right place right time! Haha. Did you knock one down??
Being a ol Georgia boy that doesn't get many opportunities at some bucks like this. That one older funky racked buck would have probably went on my wall. What a awesome and blessing to be able to hunt an area that you can let bucks like that walk. We try to keep to 3 1/2 or older but it's hard when you hunt timber lease property down here to let a good buck walk. But it pays off sometimes. I was fortunate enough to take a 150 and 2/8 rough score 10 pointer last year. Don't care much about scoring but that's what my taxidermy said he roughed scored. You had a awesome hunt and great footage. Thanks for sharing

For sure man, everything is relative, especially to location. And a 150 is a heck of a deer almost anywhere! Thanks for watching and best of luck

That sure looks like fun! Up in MN where we've hunted the past 30 yrs plus... you rattle... the timber puppies come rolling in, I've seen more wolves the past 3 years than deer. But hey... management is only needed for deer I hear!
what a great day to be a bowhunter. but then again aren't they all. Love the audio, nice camera work. thanks from the mts. of Pa.

Professor Mills putting on a clinic !!!
Good video. Reminds me alot of Bill Winke's Classic hunts. No background music just straight hunting. Keep up the good work. 👍👊🦌💥
Only harvest does. Had 14 bucks within 20 yards before 10am, the one with a huge V rack that actually looked strange on his smallish body followed my boot scent to my ladder, looked right at me then circled like a dog and went to sleep, ignoring my commentary trying to get him to move on . Didn’t see a single doe. One of the greatest days I ever had in a stand.
really enjoyed this one brother, hope to see ya at the classic!

What are your thoughts on the Garmin sight? I've had my current sight for many years and am thinking about making a switch to something different.
At 1046 epic footage ! Gotta say I'm totally unimpressed passing at this point . I don't care what is sniffing dirt at the end 😂☠️
Lol this is the type of hunt people dream of
Love the mention of thermals. Only time I'll rattle or blind call unless I have a hard back - (River, highway, bluff, field edge, etc.. think I may have shot the 5 year old.. but your in Iowa I'm in VA.
Have you heard of or seen any signs of ehd hitting in your area? I know some spots in Iowa got hit hard again this year. Hoping you put a big one on the ground soon. Good luck out there
That audio was something special, the first time I heard a grunt hunting is forever engrained in my memory. Another great video, informative too. I look forward to getting out this week. I’m gonna give rattling a try, any tips for evening ? Or are you generally A.M rattling?
@jaredmills
8 ай бұрын
I probably do it a little more rattling in the mornings than evenings but both can work for sure. Same thing though, just take into consideration a deer coming in downwind to the call. Good luck!
Awesome video but I got a quick question. How come the two bucks started to fight then pulled off? Is it bc they figured out that there wasn’t a hot doe at the moment and it wasn’t the right time to fight bc they couldn’t breed anyway. I see this kind of play fighting every year at my ranch and i always considered it the pre rut(seeking) phase.
@jaredmills
8 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, I think they could have just not been interested in fighting each other, there wasn't a hot doe or anything in the area. There were also times that they kind of knew something wasn't right but with the thermals they couldn't pinpoint it, so that could have been part of it too. Thanks for watching!
The head on that buck us unreal
