Day 59 | THE 4 STATE CHALLENGE! (44 MILES) | VA, WV, MD & PA | Appalachian Trail 2021
Ойын-сауық
I tackled the 4 State Challenge on the Appalachian Trail! 44 miles through Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. I experienced Harpers Ferry and the Mason Dixon line, two iconic parts of the AT. I had a small setback at mile 34, but came out strong!

Completes 40+ miles with rocky terrain with no problem, but nearly decapitates herself getting into the truck. 🤦🏾♀️ Congratulations on completing the challenge!!

Congratulations on completing that challenge - and with the injury to boot! I love that your watch didn't want to stop tracking - that was the perfect ending. Thanks for continuing to take us along with you, Taylor, and for being your authentic self along the way!
Wow! Great job on the challenge. Big shoutout to your mom and aunt for the support they give you. The look on your face after your injury took me by suprise as it was the first time I can recall not seeing that joyful smile. "I CAN DO THIS" Your willpower and commitment is truly inspirational and such obstacles give us a deeper look into the amazing woman that you are. Now get some rest, recharge and continue to do this in the way that is best for YOU! PS: Loved the cheering and finish line banner!
What an achievement +40miles in one day! You crushed it Taylor!!
My whole family is so here for this! This is the first upload we look for when we settle in for night time KZread tv time! b/c of you, my hubs and I have set nearly at retirement age goal of hiking the 4000 footers! Great job with your channel. Hope the haters never get you down. You do you! Cheering you on from MA.
Congratulations, and THANK YOU for including the raw emotion after your accident. Your humility is wonderful.
Congrats to both of you!! I am so happy your injury didn’t cause you to stop!! Way to go, Taylor!!
Congratulations Taylor, and Stretch. So awesome and heartwarming to see your Mom and Aunt supporting you along the way. Stuff happens and you persevere thru it. Could sense your feeling of potential disappointment not knowing if your injury would derail your effort to complete the challenge, but you fought thru it. Thats the New England in you! Way to go!!!

There is more capillary pressure on scalp. No worries.
Thank you Taylor for another amazing video! Don’t let insecure men get you down. It’s crazy to me how men can tell you how to do your hike and try and discredit your accomplishments. It’s your body, time, and money. Men telling women what to do w those things really erks me. We all knew you were a badass hiker before you even started. You’ve been killin it out there! Let those men keep feeling threatened 👍 youre amazing! Congrats on ur epic 4 state challenge!!

Seriously right you are... I follow two other male hikers and never see critical comments on their hiking choices. One guy drinks beer whenever he can and there is no Insane Wayne to lecture him on his diet choices.

@@rebeccar1036 yuppp. I hike with my bf baskets and he doesn’t get anything like that, but I do- mostly on Instagram though XD

@@rebeccar1036 That's because it's insecure men that leave comments like that. Taylor threatens their masculinity. It's something they could never achieve so putting down a woman who can makes them feel better about themselves. They would never dare stand up to a man and say those kind of things. Friend of mine (male) calls that kind of male a Troglodyte.

Who has put her down? I've only seen the one guy that always criticizes her eating habits. Still haven't figured out if hes a troll or serious.

Awesome! Sorry you got hurt but wow, what a trooper! Amazing job Taylor, and shout out to your support crew
Such a wonderful thing to have such a supportive mother on your journey. I'm happy for you and that you were able to complete this challenge!
Good teamwork with the support car! It's cool that your mom and aunt support you like that. Congrats on completing the challenge. Sorry about the head injury.
You are a trooper! What an accomplishment! I love that you video every day so we can follow along.
A support is here, thousands of miles away from Appalachian trail! Great love and respect from a solo mountain hiker from Chitral Pakistan!
Nicely Done!!! It's on to Rock-sylvania! Stay strong and keep up the awesome positive attitude. Happy Trails!
Congratulations! What an awesome achievement for you and Stretch. . Bless your heart, I felt so sorry for you when you cut your head. You looked so distressed but you caught your breath and kept going. You have a lot to be proud of. Get a little rest and keep charging!
I really like your mom! Letting you know the head bleeds a lot was so true. Small cut equals lots of blood. Also loved the sunset happening near the end. Congratulations on completing it to both of you and kudos to your support team.

this is a thing mom's know :) (and dads)
Congrats on the 4 state challenge.. . Love the fact that mom and aunt were so supportive. Love the realism you show in your videos. Keep patting the ground with those feet and bending your knees and the end will be there sooner than later. In Georgia we call it " pat and bend"
Congrats! So sorry about your little head wound. I always cry when I bump my head. Just can't keep tears from coming to my eyes. And getting into the car is the worst for it. So proud of you for sticking it out and big thanks to your support team!
You are incredible! You’re inspiring so many (myself included) with your journey. Congrats on all you’ve accomplished!
Great story! Thanks Taylor. Took me 3 nights and about killed me. Testament to your endurance and experience. Glad you’re ok!
Wow! So amazing! You guys are rockstars! Also, shout out to your mom and aunt for being a great support team.
WHOOP WHOOP 4 State challenge champions! CONGRATS to you and Stretch for crushing it! Awesome job! Great work by mom and your aunt for the support! Hope your head gets better soon. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Congratulations, Taylor & Stretch! What a fun way to check off some AT miles! 👏😎👍 Awesome job! Hope your head is doing okay by now. That had to hurt! 🤕
Huge congrats on completing this enormous 4 State Challenge. And kudos to your support team.
12 miles before 8am ... that's amazingly awesome.
Whoo hoo!! What an awesome achievement! Congratulations Taylor!
Fantastic!! Congrats on completing the challenge. Ice always helps on a head bump. Hike on.
Amazing job! Ever since the shoe/foot issue back on the first few days, this hike has been a breeze for you. Wow, you are flying up the east coast! So fun watching you enjoy the trail...
WOW!! That is insane!!!! You are one BEAST of a hiker!!! You will be at Katahdin in no time!! GO GIRL GO!!!
Just read your IG post don't let these haters faze you. You chose to do this because it was a dream of yours and something YOU wanted to do and enjoy. You're spending your time and your money so do it the way you enjoy it the most! A lot of us really appreciate being along for the journey and we will support you no matter what! Proud of TNH from Salem Ma! Hike on and have a blast! 🌄

Great job! Thanks to your support crew who made this great day even better!
Congratulations! Keep crushing it! And welcome to Rocksylvania!👍🏻🇺🇸
Congratulations Taylor!!! What a great mom and aunt you have! Glad your head is ok...that was a real "bell ringer" I'm sure! Happy Trails🥾🥾
Wow, wow, wow! The milage plus a beautiful sunset! You get a great big congratulations!! Blessings
Congratulations. Glad to hear the bump didn't mess you up too bad. It must have been scary to think it might mess up today's hike, not to mention the next few days.
Congrats on completing a cool endurance challenge! It's a lot more fun to have some company and a support crew when doing something like that. I did a 22 hour mountain hiking challenge last fall totally self supported. It kinda sucked when I finished at 2 am an all I could do was crawl in the back of my vehicle and pass out.
This makes me want to get out and do a long distance hike even more than I already do! I didn't think it was possible. Thanks Taylor
That’s so cool, congrats Taylor and Stretch! And honorable mention to your mom and aunt for the support efforts.
Congratulations on completing the challenge! Always motivating me to go out and explore!
Awesome accomplishment and video. Very impressive to see you work through the mental challenge of the injury and prevail. Thanks for the honest and inspirational sharing.
Congratulations ya two! Way to go ….and thanks to the relatives for their being there
You are such a tough gal. I'm impressed with your physical abilities and I felt so sorry for you when you were fighting off crying after that head bump. Been there done that and it does hurt very badly but you shook it off and continued on. You are a winner in my book.
Your hike is your hike and you do it the way you want to. Congrats on this accomplishment!
Congrats! Wow! See how much safer hiking is than getting in a truck? Seriously though, I am glad your injury was no worse and you were able to complete the challenge. You are amazing!
Congratulations on your 4 state changing, sure have enjoyed your videos from day one.keep up the good work.
Absolutely proud of you and stretch. Well done. Inspirational. I hope you have enough energy to celebrate
HUGE Kudos to you (and your support team)!! Also, as a Marylander, thanks for featuring a state non infrequently given zero coverage in through-hiker videos. :)
I think your Mom was the saving grace for the 4 state challenge. With her making sure you were hydrated and fed. And of course getting to go to the hotel for some much needed rest. Great job!
Fantastic accomplishment! I love living vicariously through you - what an inspiration you are. Keep it up ❤
I watch your videos every single day and as a Massachusetts girl, I finally feel like you’re close! Awesome job, you’re an inspiration!
Awesome job Taylor, Stretch, Aunt, and Mom... you abilities to complete the challenge even while injured is admirable.. take a zero relax the best of Rocksylvania is yet to come.. Enjoy
Such a wonderful Mom !!!You will think of this day when your own baby is out adventuring !!❤️
Congrats thats a huge accomplishment. I love all of the support from your mom, bc I know mine would do the same. Keep on conquering those miles!
I’m so, so very proud of you two! I have to say, you held back your tears well, I did not! Please be careful, 🤟🏼 you rock!
You guys are speed hikers as someone who did 68 miles last year on trail I know how tough it is and you guys are are crushing it !
That's so awesome --- congratulations on such and epic accomplishment!
AWESOME!! Welcome to my home state. Hope you enjoy it. The climb out of Lehigh Gap will remind you of your home state. Hike on!
Excellent. Thanks for videoing it and showing it to us. Congratulations.
Love your journey and your positivity! You are such a trooper in this video!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Congratulations on completing the 4 state challenge!!!! You did awesome!!!!
You are such a badass and such an inspiration. You make the AT look so easy when I know it's definitely not! Keep it up and you'll be on Katahdin by June!
Hi Taylor, at 26.2 mi you were talking about a normal day you'd be tired. I'm now retired but from my experience if we knew early that we were going to work a longer day we were more ready for it. When an emergency popped up near quitting time, we often felt tired. Mentally....we fell into the trap! Lol Take care
Well done! You guys had a great support team!
Very impressive! In construction we say "If there is no bone showing, get back to work"
It’s hard to believe you fit that all into the small pack. You’ve probably gotten pretty quick at packing up each time. Continued best wishes on your AT adventure!
You've reminded us all that cars are dangerous. Congratulations on completing the challenge!
Congrats Taylor👊 AWESOME 👍hope you're feeling better, gotta watch out for those truck doors, they bite😖
Congrats on completing the 44 Challenge, in record time to boot !!
Congratulations! Glad Stretch was with you on the trail in case your head injury effected you. It seemed like your injury was more of a shock than something serious.
Taylor, you're a beast. You're bleeding and still smiling. Glad your head feels better :)
What a big support crew! Thanks mom and aunt Kerry! I remember that week was freezing cold especially during the weekdays. And you are hiking in short?? 😰😱😵 Thank God that injury doesn't affect your rest of your 10 miles of hike. Thanks for inspiring me and everyone!! You are just amazing.
Congrats on completing the 4-state challenge Taylor and Stretch!
Congratulations on completing the 4 state challenge!!!
So proud of you, that is a great accomplishment. You did great. 👍💯
Welcome to Maryland! When you talked about an injury in the video, I was worried you had fallen on the rocks leading down from High Rock in the dark. It would have been bad if my home state had caused a serious injury. I hope it healed up well. On to Rocksylania.
Yay! Congrats to you, Stretch, & your awesome Mom/Aunt crew! Head injuries can be tricky to know if it’s something major (stitches, concussion, etc). Glad yours turned out to be something minor and your okay. Anyone who thinks you didn’t have the right to be concerned or upset at the thought it might end the challenge or even the hike is just wrong.
The finish line banner was cool!
Congratulations on the 4 state challenge. 👍
Wahoo congratz! I concur that head wounds can be scary with how much they bleed.
Wow, Congratulations pretty insane, on top of an injury. Your mom and Aunt there at the end is so heartwarming. I wonder what your mph comes out to when you cut out all the breaks, incredibly fast I presume
Incredible, Taylor!! 👏👏👏
Congratulations! What a tremendous accomplishment!
Congratulations! Head injuries can really be a jolt to your well being. I'm glad it didn't get in the way of your hike.
Amazing job. Love your videos. Congrats.
Well done, Taylor. Congratulations!
You rock!!! Best vid so far!!!
Sorry about the “injury”, you and Stretch did amazing great job guys!!
Congratulations!! Amazing support team! Sorry about your head but on the bright side you look cute when you cry.💕
Congrats on the 4 state challenge!
Wow! What an achievement! Congratulations! 👏👏👏
Crazy awesome! Glad your not hurt that bad And able to continue!
Fantastic - you guys are awesome - onward and northward - almost 1/2 way!!!
Congratulations!! So awesome. Sorry about your head tho. Ouch. I hope it feels better.
🎉 good job Taylor and Stretch
