Oh and I forgot to say, so glad you are doing well. My surgeon sad I could drive after I was off pain-killers, I was driving day 6. I was so stir crazy! Oh and the collagen peptides will help with the hair. Must be. I've not lost any except what is normal and I'm 7 months out so I'm assuming I'm past that. Yay!

Thank you Lynn. I drove today - day 5 an overdid it at the shops. was feeling so well I forgot myself and lifted something I definitely should not have. got a bit of a fright after the fact but am feeling ok now thank goodness.Not going out alone for a few more days.... I will keep in mind about the collagen I have read a lot about it. Take care Alison x

Glad to hear all is going well Ali :) Very informative and much appreciated. We are hoping to go away to bowral 1wk after surgery for. Relaxing getaway...would u think I would feel ok to go away and walk around the shops etc? You have me so excited now :D

Jacinta I'm day 5 and I'd love a little getaway to be honest but pace yourself don't overdo the walking and keep on top of your fluids as you will have been prescribed. Glad I'm helping :)

I had to do the Optifast diet pre-surgery and hated the Optifast. I got scolded post-surgery because the nutritionist found out I had Optifast left. I just didn't like it at all and hated it more as the pre-diet went on. Do you ha(ve Premier Protein shakes where you are at? They taste better and one has 30 grams of protein. Can you have decaf coffee? If so, you could put collagen peptides (unflavored) and that has 20 grams.

Hi Lynn. I loved the optifast shakes pre op but have tried to get some in yesterday and today and it causes terrible reflux pain so no more for a bit for me.... I was given normal instant coffee in hospital (didn't drink it) but could have what I can tolerate but gentling into my full fluid stage at the moment. I will have a look for premier protein... I have ordered some recommended protein powder samples and will see how they go.

Reflux is pretty common after VSG which is why I had bypass cuz my GERD was already pretty bad, was losing my voice due to GERD. Turned out I had a larger hiatal hernia which the surgeon didn't expect, I think. Has your surgeon prescribed an acid blocker? Surgeons here in the states routinely prescribe something like omeprazole (prilosec) after VSG.

Yes he has I have been on one for the last few years so same same. I had a small hiatus hernia.... the surgeon said he didn't repair but did remove some fat from around it! I stopped short from telling him he could've knocked himself out and taken as much as he wanted :)
