Day 3 Dublin to Athlone to Galway

It's day three of our Ireland Road Trip, and we hit the road in our rental car, headed for Athlone and Galway.
Our first stop is Athlone and Sean's Bar, certified by Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest pub in Ireland, dating back to the 900's! We'll give you a tour, meet some of the staff, and see some of the original historic construction. We limit ourselves to one drink since we're driving or navigating. Then it's on to Galway and Avoca House B&B (more about that in the next videos, as we're staying there three days) in the Merlin Park neighborhood. We take a walk down to the city proper and the Latin Quarter, give you some history on the song "Galway Girl", and hear our first Irish traditional music session at Taaffe's pub. Come with us as we see Lynch's Castle built by one of the original fourteen tribes of Galway. We dine on some classic Irish fare at the King's Head, which dates back to the 1600's, then stay to hear the house band. We ride the local bus back to our Ireland B&B to end our first day in Galway.

Loved this video, and like all Irishmen would, the trad session was thoroughly enjoyed.

I saw Steve back in ‘87. Always in my rotation. Also, not sure if you like Blue Grass music but he did an album called The Mountain with legend Del McCoury that’s pretty damn good. Thanks for your comments Don! -Chris 🇺🇸🇮🇪🎶😁

@@thissecondhalfadventure They are a cultivated variety of rose, I have them in my own garden. I don't have the name. They have the feature that after the flower's fade you have a extra flush in Autumn of the bright red rose hips or seed pods. They put up suckers like mad so you have to keep them under control.
