"- сказал ему однажды отец, и, чтобы дать сыну урок, он рассказал ему про человека, который шёл рано по улице и нашёл много денег. -" Но, папа, "- сказал Ваня - "тот, кто потерял эти деньги, встал ещё раньше." @@lilyrose4191 The book was a cheap second hand find, but a very interesting and varied sample of texts to translate, with a glossary at the back. It sarts off with short stories, fables and articles and then diverts nto some geography and history of the USSR, and potted biographies of Alexander Nevsky, Peter the Great and Lenin, as well as lives of Chekhov, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. Also, thank you for the verb of the day! It's great to see context for some of the vocabulary in the flashcard deck I compiled from last year's course -- it contains about 3300 cards and I only have the dictionary lemmas for a lot of them. Seeing them in context is a great help not only for understanding how the conjugation works (straightforward for высказывать, but not for others...) but also as an aid to memorising them. And this is a group of words (высказаться, подсказывать, высказывать, рассказывать) that I always seem to get mixed up! 😱

This happens to me too! The more repetition and clarity we get on those words, the happier I am ! I always have to watch for a few times the lessons with those ones in it!

​@@Russianlanguage 3 мна означает дешево, например, роман на 3 мнах означает скучный роман. Игра театральная на 3 мнах и.т.д. Смысл этой пословицы остается спорным. Вопрос в том, означает ли она, что вставать рано - это пустая трата сил или нет. Обычно её ставят с пользой.

Stavo cercando proprio questo, ce l'avevo sulla punta della lingua (For Nastya: I had it on the tip of the tongue = might refer to an idea, an expression, or a name of a famous actor you know [for example], that you've momentarly forgot it, and you're annoyed by it.Then someone suddenly remembers it to you, and you can use this expression. Do you have something similar in russian?). Ero lì a chiedermi cosa inserisco nelle carte Anki come equivalente in italiano? Perché so che ce l'abbiamo... You saved the day.

An English saying is: "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise." Also, "The early 🐦 catches the 🪱." I like the Russian version better than those two 🙂 🌅

Me too! German has the saying "Morgenstund hat Gold im Mund" -- literally "the morning hour has gold in its mouth". Re vacuum cleaner vs "dust cleaner": the German for vacuum cleaner is "Staubsauger", which literally means "dust-sucker"! And the German for "I have to do the vacuuming" would translate literally as "I have to suck dust". Which is kinda gross if you think about it too hard... 😂
