Day 16 post-double mastectomy

DRAINS ARE OUT!!!!!!
In this video, I talk about what extra steps I needed to take to get my drains out, the experience of drain removal, tissue expander inflation and continued healing. I also talk about meeting with the medical oncologist again and her reminding me that I will have to go thru chemo.

Good advice! I am at 11 days post bilateral mastectomy. Still have drains. I will try lying in bed more. Fluid is decreasing.

That’s great! Mine were in for 2 weeks. It was so annoying but for me lying down helped decrease the drainage more.

Thank you for sharing. I am preparing to have my mastectomy in Jan 2023. I was diagnosed in Sept 2022 of Stage 2 Breast Cancer

Best of luck with the surgery. I’m so sorry you’re on this path but if you need anything at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I made a recap video after healing from my double mastectomy & I make some recovery recommendations in that video. 💕

@@breastcancerjourney.dr_colburt Thank you for responding. I do not like that I am on this journey either but God has granted me to go down this path for what ever HIS plan is. A couple of years ago I was my late husband's care giver and walked along with him as he fought Stage 4 Metastatic Colon Cancer. if he could fight and live like he did - I sure not going to give up. I also love you sharing scripture and your dental tips. I was a dental assistant for many years- now I am working with a small animal veterinary clinic. I will look for that video.

@@barbisiemon8455 I’m so sorry to hear about your husband. My condolences. But I love that you use his life and his outlook for your own battle. That’s amazing!! How small of a world is it that you were in the dental field?! Do you love the veterinarian field? I feel like it would be so therapeutic to be able to pet and play with different animals all day 😍

Why chemo? I thought your cancer was not in the nymph?

Great question! My oncologist wanted to make sure that all the cancer cells were dead b/c there is always a chance that cancer cells remain after removing the breast tissue b/c there is no way for them to remove every cell of breast tissue. So chemo was to make sure that if there was any cancer cells remaining, they’d get killed by chemo.
