Day 1- Camino de Invierno | The Winter Way from Ponferrada begins in the incredible El Bierzo Valley
The historic ‘Camino Invierno’ or the ‘The Winter Way’! This route was once a lower elevation alternative to the Camino Frances. The pilgrim services from the medical ages are gone - and it is a wild and remote walk. The first day begins in Ponferrada and weaves into the El Bierza valley. The El Bierza is a rich wine agricultural landscape filled with valleys, rivers and mountains.

i told my frieds some weeks earlier about the canadian courageous woman who had to find a key in the dark and sleep completely alone in an albergue. you are a great lady dear sara
Thanks!
Just came across your videos of the Invierno. Well done. Love the albergue descriptions and your general positive attitude. On my list for next spring.

Singin and dancin in the kind of weather and at a time of year that'd put the stoppers on most people. Young, carefree, strong. Live it Sara, live it! Ultreia!

Spain does it up around Christmas 🎄
Cool: The bridge. The church. The albergue and the old man who helped you find it. Drool: The doll on a stick. The Camino Inviernes is interesting!

There are sooooo many Caminos in this country. I love it!!!?
Oooooh...that doll on a stick was creepy!! ... Oh, it would have been funny to do a full on Bridge Dance so the driver of the car waiting for you would be able to tell other people about the crazy hiker he saw that day! Hah! ... Okay, it's good that you did a more subdued dance because maybe otherwise the driver would have road rage in a small town. So, you were very considerate.

I thought about getting a Fitbit to count the miles but it would be one more electronic device to charge in town. :)
318/5000 Hello Sara, as you have noticed that new road that you start is little traveled, but it has its charm. The previous pilgrim who stopped at that hostel was on October 20, enough days have passed and you will be one of the last, if not the last one before the end of the year, but it has its charm. Buen camino.

I started on Dec 7th :)
Old men with silver hair , it almost looked like our friend from Oregon in the background .haha. I'm interested in the small villages , where are the people , are their a lot of empty house , why are the churches closed on Sunday are their no one that goes , and don't forget about the dolls along the aqueduct on PCT and CDT . No need to worry if you get drenched on this one as the Caribbean is coming .

The people all go to the cities. And there aren’t enough priests to run the churches. Sometimes a priest has to rotate around dozens of villages!
Thank you, Sara, i like your videos. Planning the Invierno in March 21 ( If the bad virus allows me ). Do you have the gear list? Can share ? I did 2 Camino - Portuges and Primitivo in summer and not sure what exactly need for winter.
Adventure on Sara!

5:17 yeah I think birds stay away from that field as well as humans
you shouldn't try all the berries you find out there, even if they look appetizing, they can be poisonous XD
