I was shocked to see all the comments about the 2 guns. If you watch or play Project Zomboid at all you know that shooting any gun that isn’t a shotgun outside of level 4 isn’t advisable.

Shocked me too, there’s a reason I bring in hundreds of zeds with a shotgun instead of starting with a nice quiet handgun :D

This was incredibly entertaining. I know most people today only want post-commentated videos with voice overs and lots of cuts and edits, but this live commentary style and minimal editing brings in the visceral and real side of this game so much. And of course, you have a great voice and great commentating style!

Suggestion for your videos Instead of cutting things like taking down zombies or looking for things like the weapon place just fast forward at like 6x speed i think it would be cooler Love the content by the way keep it up

That’s what I usually tend to do there was just so much in this one, even if I did it at 6x speed it’d still be like an hour long episode :D they do tend to be time lapses though, gotta get the killing runs in! Glad you’re enjoying though, really appreciate it :)

The trouble is, early doors with no skills those handguns are useless, was mainly looking for a shotgun or something bigger for fun

Shovels are great weapons, they just don't last long. Nice damage though.

The handguns are almost useless this early on, cause way more problems than you solve. Shotguns however are unreal, cause a whole lot of chaos but damn good fun!

Personally i alway start with a hell hard start but with big gain in the late game, so q(more trait mod in that sentence) alcoolism, injured, broken leg if i feel extra spicy, pack mouse (-2 kg of max carry), sun burn (not the exact name but is literally that you get a slight pain when you are outside),bad teeth(same with food) for the bonus one hobo (tasty bin food), grave robber for extra loot, another one for a chance of doubling some loot while searching (for example instead of found a pack of milk would found 2), antique finder( same reason), now for vanilla, smoker, claustrophob, big capacity, (for car and other furtniture), handy, hunter, wildman, brave, runner, skillfull (at least that what google translate say =) to not spend 20 minute unloading my car. That it for the most part, use also dynamic trait so the cost and forced trait are not as in vanilla (for example handy cost was less than skillfull wich in that case cost around 8 point) and as you have overweight you will have big hunger and big thirst). Very rewarding if you manage to survive the first month, but damn if it's hard, most of time i don't manage to.

Oh that does sound good fun, I tend to go for tougher starts too kicking off with a broken leg is always good fun, makes it soooo much more rewarding starting at rock bottom for sure. Definitely need to add in more trait mods in future too!

@@Vulrhund Would especially recommend the mod dynamic trait, very great as it ipacted how you play, based on what you do you will gain positive and negative trait trough your game wich ins awesome.

its funny you choose lucky as a trait. I always pick unlucky since you dont really notice a difference. its 10% less rare loot (according to wiki) but I have found guns, axes and like good stuff in my starting houses with unlucky trait. haha idk I always pick unlucky because free points and loot is everywhere if you know where to look.

Dude I can’t even play the game without lucky, let alone with unlucky :D I tend to do the rarest loot setting too if that’s what you go for? Without lucky I won’t even find a hand axe let alone something better, luckier man than I am for sure!

And still you only find a million hand axes and not that many fire axes hahaha (at least till episode 9 I havent watched more) idk in the end its all somewhat based of rng

You said there weren't any guns but there was a pistol and a magnum in the front display cases - do you mean no "real" guns like shotguns or assault rifles? Are pistols just not worth the effort? I'm amazed you survived the first part that was crazy. I think you definitely could have not alerted quite so many zombies as you did but I suspect it was partially for good content lol

You’re right they were but no “real” guns like you said, the first gun should ALWAYS be a shotgun until you get a few aiming levels under your belt, anything else is basically useless. Honestly me too, I thought I was a goner as soon as that exhaustion set in, the panic was real! (It was definitely just pure fear but yeah… umm… for content and I’m not just bad :D)

Just past the hunting lodge there is a small collection of houses, a hotel(Guns a BlazINN), and a bar(The Straight Shooter). That's a nice little place. Across from the bar is a house with high fences on two sides. I had a base there until I was able to secure the gas station/general store by the main road. Excited for the next one!

@@Vulrhund I like maps, so it is easy. My two longest survivors are/were the mounted police barracks where I am now, and the Valley Station area where you were. When I played in Valley Station, I had the Zed population turned to average, so it was a bit easier but I was still learning the game. The Louisville mounted barracks game Zed population is second highest and I adjusted the Zeds just to see how the controls work. The migration is interesting too. In some areas I have a handful of Zeds, but just around the corner they fill the screen! Can’t wait for the next one.

@@Vulrhund I started playing this week, I'm a complete beginner. I saw you have a pretty long series, so maybe I'll check it out to pick up some tips and tricks. Any recommendations? I got killed 7 times the first day so I turned it off :D

Within the tine frame of 27:00 to 28:00 you missed out on 1 magnum and an m9 pistol whist you were saying any guns

So I’m not sure how familiar you are with guns in this game but my god are they deadly and absolutely terrible to begin with :D unless it’s a shotgun of some sort or something super rare like an M16 I’ll just make a little mental note and keep moving, good spot though!

Cheers personally I think you look through the boxes simply way too fast I've played zomboid a lot but I don't have a lot of hours on it and I usually decide what's usefull for em now and what's usefull later and take later and store it in a location I know of and then take the thing so immediately know I need. You don't have to do what I do it's just my own way of doing things

@@dreadedascendance2005 That is definitely what I need to start doing for sure, I usually manage it if I'm clearing a neighbourhood I'll just bag it up and get it in one area but I'll usually just remember it or make a little note on the map. Definitely need to be more organised on that side though, so easily done just having a scan, remembering you've seen it and losing it forever because I didn't make a note, story of my life :D

They’re all pretty standard setting, think main changes is very high or insane population, no respawns and zombies triggering house alarms. Other than that should be standard!
