The Nostalgia flooded back to me instantly from hearing a Precursor Orb

I loved this game when I was younger (and still do), and a few days ago I randomly wondered what the any% times were like. Only to see that a significant new WR had been posted just a few days ago... Amazing!

I didn't get to enjoy the game as a kid, I never played any Jak and Daxter games and I never had a PSP Im glad I gave it a chance this year though really enjoy it :D

Alberona We owned a PSP and a gamecube and 3-4 games for each. I don’t even know anything about the rest of the jak and daxter franchise... just a soft spot for this game. And how we could never find that darn last orb in prison.....

@@DavidCornell1 yeah this is actually the only game in the Jak and Daxter series I have played so far lol, but that will change soon at least the last orb in like 90% of levels is impossible to find, every other orb easy, last orb litterally nowhere lol

@@alberona9986 I don't suppose you have the route written down anywhere or something? I would love to look at each glitch and figure out what parts of the game it skips, maybe give it a try myself. I thought the looking-away to let the scooter drift through the forcefield was particularly clever, is it because the game processes the scooter off screen but not the forcefield?

@@DavidCornell1 I don't have it written down no, I memorized it But if you want to know what it skips I can try to write the major ones down So first of all the Box clip at the start is the fastest of a bunch of ways we have to enter Breezy Valley early, skipping both the Westside Hotel and Construction Site 1 (sorta we still need to go in here once but not actually complete it) Then after that we have Barrier Skip, this allows us to access the teleporter room without doing the Brewery and the following quest in the Transit system where you fight the first big boss Next we have Teleporter Menu Storage, Which is the main trick we use from here on to the Tanker, we use this to quickly enter and exit Construction Site 1 because we need to get the bug spray gun (we got the ability to hover with it on our way to the Barrier so only one more left to get) we leave with our TMS still up and do Scooter Proxy, which allows us to enter the City Port early, usually you have to do the Strip Mine, to unlock Breezy Valley 2, to then unlock Prison Zoomer Chase which sends you to Tanker 1, and then when you are done with the first Tanker mission you are finally in the City Port Driving on with our TMS still active we grab the last item we need the flamethrower right outside of the Tanker and then go in and use our Teleporter Menu to enter Tanker 2. This skip is huge. Doing this skip means we have bypassed every level in the game before the endgame. I believe the 2nd best skip we have would be to enter the end of CS2 early, which would mean we would still have to do Strip Mine 2, followed by the 2nd big boss as well as Lumber Mill and Emerald Isle 2 before we could finally go to the 2nd Tanker Mission Most Skips in Tanker 2, Palace and Prison cut off just some sections of the levels which in comparison to some of the earlier skips is not that big but some of these save a significant amount of time The biggest skips in these levels are definitely the first out of bounds in Tanker 2 which skips to the end of the zipline section and the Skip using the Portal at the end of Prison to get over the wall to the Final Boss, which skips the +1 min Minigame that usually opens the door Finally we have the Final Boss launch that skips most of phase 2 and all of phase 3 of Kaeden. Without this skip we would have to get the 3rd upgrade to the Bug Spray gun, the one that shoots electric balls or whatever they are called in the canon lol. In order to do that as fast as possible we would have to do the before mentioned CS2 early entry to get to the end of CS2 thus unlocking Strip Mine 2 so we can watch that cutscene for the final upgrade, but thanks to the skip in the final boss we can skip that entirely saving a bunch of time I think that about covers the major timesaves in the run, if you ever want to give the run a try yourself I definitely recommend checking out the Jak and Daxter Speedrunning discord to ask any questions you may have to us here : discord.com/invite/HUzXuNn I also recommend watching my attempt at making a Beginners tutorial, I skipped some of the harder small timesaves but all the major ones are in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z66Mrcmtc9LXdKg.html

It took me THREE YEARS TO COMPLETE THIS GAME!!! 😭😭😭🤦‍♂️

Imagine being so concerned about a walking hairball with a flamethrower but not a bunch of bugs that can eat people alive and tear them a part indiscriminately. The Krimson Guard everybody, even their own automated defenses don't care about the dangers of the Metalheads, no matter their size. No wonder the Baron was losing the fight against Kor. Also, there must have been a bug patch with those KG's in the prison, because I remember spending HOURS trying to get passed the one that patrols that one little step area right before the Zoomer chase. He somehow always knew I was behind him no matter what.

If you jump or get too close he shoots, otherwise you are good

@@alberona9986 Yeah no this guy straight up had spider sense I swear. Maybe my game was bugged but that guy was mean with a capital M lol. I eventually did get passed it, I really miss this game, sadly I don't have a PSP or a PS anymore.

This was on emu, hence why I could use a PS4 controller Emu loses time switching memory card, but is otherwise equivalent to playing on PSP so its allowed for accessibility

Daxter became a bug pacifist in this one. only kills the bugs by accident sometimes.

And I thought 5 hours was a decent time XD

This game took we weeks to finish on my psp 2000 when i was 10😂

So that I can jump without crashing the game (It's needed because of the teleporter menu that I use to travel around and enter the Tanker 2 mission early)
