@@keddage1 yep. This is prob one of the more subtle reasons why - no offense to PCT players - pictomancer just comes off as goofy to me. Viper feels a better fit for traversing Tural in many ways. in my opinion, anyway.

Legit the only battle theme across all expacs that i will never get bored of listening while doing overworld content

This theme just gets me going when it hits. So much so when a mob aggros accidentally I have to fight it.

I know it sounds a bit dumb, but when I'm playing MSQ I try to travel to locations on foot as much as possible and actually fight any enemies that happen to aggro, sort of pretend like it's a "regular" Final Fantasy game, lol

This is the same kind of like, festival with a tournament vibe that Vamos alla Flamenco has, which makes so much sense given the setting being mesoamerican inspired.

Except this is not Mesoamerican at all. This has heavy Spaniard influence, and while they did conquer Mesoamerica (the Spanish, I mean), the true musical roots for the South-American cone is not as close to this as you might perceive. The music, sadly, does not fit the setting. But I know better than to expect Japanese devs understanding the difference between hispanic and latino music. It's good though.

I feel like coming from Endwalker, so much of DT’s ost is gonna be sleeper hits that grow on you after a few listens. But this one’s just fantastic from the jump. Can’t wait til you post the dungeon boss themes.

Absolutely agreed. It was how I felt when it was Endwalker out of Shadowbringers...I adore Insatiable as a boss theme. On Blade's Edge was enjoyable to me from early on, but it kept growing on me as we heard it more and now it's another of my favorites...And then I heard the dungeon boss theme for Dawntrail and had to wonder just WHY it went so hard. It grew on me very quickly...And then I hit the big story battle late in MSQ and the 100 dungeon. It's already one of my favorites. DT delivered sublime music at every step.

Oh we did hear parts of this theme in the full trailer.

0:59 gives off Wild Arms theme vibes and I love it. Im so glad this is a battle theme, cause it hit hard in the trailer 🔥😎

Shadowbringers' biggest problem is that it takes WAY too long to actually get started, which, coupled with how little time overworld battles usually take, means that you just end up having to listen to that opening riff again and again.

Almost maxed out my FATE in Urqopacha just because of this theme. I really should continue the MSQ...

Indeed, I'm not so far into DT yet but most songs until now remind me of classic RPGs like Chrono Cross, Wild Arms, etc. Wonderful!

This is it. They somehow beat shadowbringer's combat theme. I did not think it could be done. But they did it the absolute madlads and lasses.

@@sprigganfromffxiv Yeah, the ShB regular battle theme was really just noise with some vocals thrown in. The Stormblood one was better by far. But Dawntrail's combat theme blows them both out of the water.

Might just be my favorite battle theme in all of XIV. It can't stop swaying to the beat whenever this plays. When it's not playing, I wish it was. I almost never want combat to end.

You know what? I think I’ll give Dancer a try.

So, I played through the MSQ as dancer. It was fitting.

The moment I heard this from DT's trailers, I already know this is going to be one of my faves. And it definitely doesn't disappoint.

This alongside Stormblood are the best battle themes.

Goes so hard. I'm fully ready for this expansion.

ARR: Standard FF battle theme, very lighthearted and not too intense HW: Almost everybody you know is gone, and you are pretty much on your own, fighting for your life STB: War is happening, and the triumphant music is there to hype you up for battle SHB: You are in a strange new land and the music reflects it by being drastically different with the use of guitars EW: An extremely triumphant epic-like battle theme to be the end all to the ascian arc DT: Its a brand new adventure so the music reflects with a new style and curiosity to everything

Feels weird to say. But i feel like this is something i might hear in a Xenoblade DLC expansion as the battle theme. Maybe that's why i've been enjoying it so much.

@@Reynsoon Xenoblade hasn't had any smooth jazz battle themes lol. Future Connected's was disco/funk. Torna's was regular old classic jazz and Xenoblade 3's one was jazz fusion.

If Ace Combat Zero taught us anything, it's that the Japanese know how make Flamenco work as battle music.

This doesn't sound like flamenco, it feels more inspired by traditional South American music while flamenco is from Spain (Europe). The drums are especially latin sounding.

Gonna be hearing this one quite often. :p I keep expecting the Krile music part to kick in. :p

this song sounds like the absolutely cracked South American cousin of To Make the End of Battle and I am 1000000% here for it.

This by far my favorite battle theme alongside with heavensward and stormblood

As a Dancer main, this theme is perfect 🥰

The first go over with that opening riff is to simply alert me to the danger. The second is to let it be known that the danger has my full, undivided fucking attention.

This is my favorite one of these since ARR. And yes this is me saying all the expansions between then and now haven't thrilled me in the same way. Good songs, but not very fitting for that vibe.

I think this is the example of why I wish i could pick my choice of battle theme for overworld in all areas. ARR was fine for the time and had a zone change. HW was interesting but i quickly shut it off. Stormblood was fine but i just grew bored with it so i turned it off. SHB i hated that riff at the start and never turned it on. Endwalker I just never bothered when i heard it and also turned it off. Only in Dawntrail now we finally have a 'battle theme' that sounds so good I can't stop listening to it. it's an earworm of a battle theme like the other game entries. I get that each expansion's battle theme also stuck with the narrative theme but man...HW to EW battle themes were so dull or uninteresting or in SHB case annoying. I apologize if you enjoyed those themes but to me, Dawntrail brought back the 'catchy' battle theme to the game.

Reminds ALOT about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in the beginning xD

Best one after Stormblood.
