They didn't know that he was a Sleepless yet when they "arrested" Nikli and I doubt he'd want to reveal himself prematurely. That's why he didn't "dissolve" when they carried him away.

Man, it broke my heart when Lopen's cousin looked at him and achieved the third oath.

Talik was the trade master who Lopen held a mid air summit with not Nikli.

I got the impression that Lancerin was just the old name for larkens. Like how knights used to be pronounced k-nig-it (like its said in Monty Python's coconut sketch).

This could very well be the case. I honestly can't wait to go back and re-read this after ROW. I love this series primarily for its worldbuilding, and this book had a ton of that

Lanceryn + Sleepless = Larkin. They were going extinct and couldn't guard the Dawnshard anymore so they did a cross breeding experiment and voila. Larkin. They need Stormlight to mature but the Highstorms don't visit the island. Chiri chiri got snuggled off the island at some point by treasure hunters or Arclo who seems to be working against the other Sleepless.
