Dark Crusade is way better than the garbage Soul Storm that has you running around endlessly looking for enemy buildings.

Ah, yes, the Eldar Stronghold mission, I hated it so much that I memorized all their hidden buildings and stationed troops there.
R.i.p them being a "Silent army" lol

They could always retcon them to go back to it.
huh, both sides have points; on the one hand, i liked the old omnicidal necrons and their utter lack of autonomy... on the other hand, i rather like the new somewhat less omnicidal necrons as well... both have their upsides, both have their downsides. If you REALLY have a problem with one side or the other, than theres nothing stopping you from sticking to the codex with your favored side really.
This narrator really likes the word "purge" he uses it almost in every campaign intro...
@stickks9875 I'm answering your question 3 months later :P No really knows. The Necron gods are actually in the reality universe while the Chaos Gods are in the Warp. From what I read though(books), the Nightbringer mocked a Blood Thirster before, even though on paper(table top) and virtual game, a blood thirster can stand up the Nightbringer no problem.
Funny, Necrons are suppose to be "undead" in the game, and I now just discovered "Necrodermis" means Corpse Skin in Greek.
soulstorm doesn't have individual videos of each race like dark crusade, so I can't post up any video about those new sides. Soulstorm only has a campaign intro, in which it talks about each side, I believe you can find that many other people has already posted that video.
scarabs can capture + build outpost on the strategic points, this allows you to secure capture points alot faster that any other race, only weakness is that the scarabs don't have any attack or defence.
im not too familiar with the talk of the "old necrons" vs "new necrons" but regardless i love their backstory and tbf i think their one of the least "evil" sentient faction. they just want to reclaim what was taken from them they strived so hard to achieve.
@dr.feelgoodmalusphillips2475

They were originally one of the most evil factions.
@nevermore7285
Жыл бұрын
They originally had next to no personality, with even the Lords barely having any. Basically terminators with even less personality with C’Tan serving as Skynet. It made them menacing, but it was difficult to tell any meaningful storytelling with them, so they retooled. Even the Tyranids have the Genestealers or some psychic what’s not to give them some character. Calling them the most evil faction is somewhat difficult to judge, as they had no freewill and were nothing more than a race of weapons.
@dr.feelgoodmalusphillips2475

@nevermore7285 The Lords & the unlikely ones turned into Pariahs did have personality but only fragments that would come back over time or remain stagnant. That added to the mystery of their race. The C'tan certainly had more personality than Skynet, literally being science made transcended to literal Gods. Also, unlike their retcon that tries to paint them in a somewhat sympathetic light, before the bio transference, they were basically spiteful envious bastards that wanted what the Eldar & Old Ones had. Their metal entombs were justice for their own hubris taken advantage of by the Star Gods and now they would exterminate all life in the universe & harvest it for their masters, some of them even liked worshiping the C'tan. They could have been fleshed out more gently instead of being turned into Looney Tune space granpas.

@@dr.feelgoodmalusphillips2475yeah, it’s a shame.
The old necrons were nothing like tyranids.They did not want to "destroy all life". Tyranids just want to feed and move on. Old necrons wanted to conquer the galaxy by sealing off the warp, finish the pariah project, get rid of the blackstone fortresses and set up a zero sum game where the ctan perpetually harvest life. They used to have unique galactic scale goals in the setting. Now they are embarrassing human-like tomb kings. They bring nothing important that Iyanden eldar didn't already.
I like playing the guard, its a challenge, and I LOVE the artillery.
This is like telling a vampire counts player that their vampires are now enslaved. instead now they get to hear about how their skeletons have derpy names and random personalities. They already had personalities - just brought out much. They HATED LIFE, were unknowable, fearless and worked through cold science. Now they are human like, royal (because tomb kings in spaaace), do feel fear, scream when they die, and ride their vehicles because they want to play PRETEND THEY ARE STILL ALIVE ect
@laneyboy5 "Purge" is certainly a word that comes to mind when I think of the WH40K universe. As it appears that there is no such thing as diplomacy in the 41st Millenium, it seems that everyone is trying to purge someone.
A phrase to scare you: Genocidal Dieties
@jqteh each of these videos are at the start of each campaign. Select an race in the campaign and their intro video will start, there is also a ending video for each race.
From what I've read, the Dark Eldar are the ones that let out the Nightbringer. Why exactly did they do that? I mean, apart from the Orks (so they could fight it), I can't think anybody in this galaxy of lunatics that's so crazy that they would want to let loose the most evil creature to ever live.
omg wtf whats with explorers and awakening doom?
ok I meant to say that you can build more then one monolith but only one can be fully upgraded into the "floating pyramid of death". I wish you could upgraded all of them fully.
LOLS in the RPG i had an army of necrons and it pissed my friends off
@MrBoringxD yeah....indeed they are slow as fuck so that's wy i use da tank necrons and the lord teleport
I give the justest cause award in this campaign intros, to necrons. They've got a very smart aim: Extinguish. All. Life. Gotta love that.
Can you upload a playthrough of dark crusade with the necrons as your main race?
J'adore les Nécrons et cette vidéo est chouette :D !
Imagine a Pariah doing this? O.O
anyone have any Idea if there is a mod that lets you use painted units in the campaign? that would be epic
"they still want to do EXACTLY that" So they still want to take over the galaxy.. except not for any of the original reasons i just listed.. but now just 'cause. Like any other generic xeno's. They could easily have added more variety by building on the old fluff and thematic style. Like they did with dark eldar (over the same editions). Instead they demolished all the old lore for no reason. The old style necrons are now unplayable both on the table and in the fluff.
I agree, Trade Negotiations were a stupid idea, but I kind of like the idea of warnings. It gives them a sort of honor. And hell, they're still gonna get you in the end. Eventually you'll run out of places to evacuate to.
God forbid Games Workshop is turning the Necrons into actual CHARACTERS, instead of just mindless brutes. Arkhtyr R'a was a Mary Sue, uninteresting, unmotivated, generic villain who deserves to be digested for days in the belly of The Nightbringer. The Necrons have always been badass, scary and intimidating but now given the fact that they are gaining free will, given the frightening nature of the race as a whole, they are really just going to cause more terror and destruction know that their chains are broken. Long live Nemekh the Summoner!!!

Noah Mcgraw-daniels Haven't you ever seen Frankenstein? (Yes, The Monster was technically a robot) The Matrix? Terminator? Robots could develop free will eventually, especially in a sci-fi universe. Besides, is it not true that Necrons were once organic creatures? Surely they could have some of that humanity/sentience left?
@TerranViceGrip

***** Im assuming you haven't actually looked up the lore, because only the strongest willed Necrons have anything left of sentience. Their souls were literally taken from them, only hatred remains.
@Johndoe-vf9uv

***** In the old fluff the necrons already had free will. When they decided to become machines they did so willingly and its heavily implied that that they liked what they did. The new necrons are morons who were tricked into becoming machines (hurr durr). Then they magically had agency to pull super duper secret weapons out of nowhere.. and attack all the C'tan at the same time.. when they all just happened to be weak and the necrons were not. Seriously the new fluff is tied with 5th edition grey knights as the stupidest, tone-deaf shit ever written by gw. There is nothing scary or intimidating about them now. They are just embarrassing awkwardly written little royals who just want a space empire... because tomb kings in space.
@Gunnar001

Sure...because trade negotiations and evacuation warnings are so terrifying. The new Necron fluff is terrible. The Necrons are a joke now.
monolith are powerful stuff, but I wish you could build more than one.
@deadlykeybord No, they are still half asleep and need coffee. Only machines could not drink coffee.
@dragonstormx And the official necron codex says that Space Marines landed on the planet with the Nightbringer and made a excavation site. They came a cross the stasis tomb and activated by mistake as a lot of them were around it at that time. Nightbringer wakes up, kills a lot of them. then fleas to a sun to eat.

Typical Blood Ravens
Lol that's so true I used to fear the Necrons because they were a mysterious race with devastating firepower reduced to laughable clowns.
can someone tell me what matt ward did? im guessing he wrote something in the lore or something and made necrons weak or something
necrons can defeat the titans from the show "Shingeki no Kyojin" because they are not living creatures and the monoliths can pulverize the titans.

How come there is no videos on mine???
Are the neuron gods more powerful than the chaos gods
The Tau are quite sophisticated with technology aren't they?
What exactly are necrons?
i played with the necrons as well as the tau in 40k necrons are not as good as tau in my opinion but they can resurrect and look cool, destoryer are the best
I concur
3rd edition codex by bye all other races
@Foolfyer probably trying to keep souls from getting out of hell.. either that or they hate dirt..
Its doubtful, they're slumbering soulless immortals, can they even feel tired?
Necrons pwn!
they were also sorta based on Borgs from Star Trek
they sure do love stabbing the dirt
Necrons for everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!
necron=mummy ?
@max725 - Is that you under a fake profile, Matt Ward?
Was Macabee Tau or Human?
@max72590 then you have no clue what Matt Ward or Robert Cruddace are. Their definition of work is shitting onto pieces of paper and calling it a codex.
yea eldar are good after you make their 100 upgrades but you need time and money ;)), necrons may be slow but they will reach the eldar before you make those upgrades
victory to the immortals !!! they rock and make the necrons overpowered
yeah, i like alexander for the ig in this game. Sturnn was cool, but stubbs(soulstorm) was an idiot. I also like when davian thule argues with the tau at the marine strongold assault
@Bo0nddOcK Overpowered.
they are like zombies from the future
most powerfull race ever created :)
I kille them with orkz : Make ur army take all transport holes, and then use attack with ur army - make ur soldiers keep the incoming necrons after plating bomb busy, then drive ur commander 2 transport holes, and take him fast 2 way out, b4 u even get necrons at ur base :)
yea but i think its a stand-alone
necs dont have artillery
@40kNecrons Human.
Eh, to each their own i guess... though i will admit that the loss of Pariahs is saddening. I rather liked that concept.
Wait hol up, guy just said and i quote "long before man even stood up straight" but then... the necrontyr were a bunch of humans and since man=humans.... wtf

They were a race on humanOID aliens
@Foolfyer Only cause it bullied them in the 5th grade...
at least i'm not raging and insulting about someone's work. If you don't like it it's your opinion.
Since Mat Ward. He's probably one of the worst things to happen to 40k lore. Ever.
Da Orks Are Da Best
They used to be damned near unstoppable in close combat. The only trouble they had was actually getting them there. I used to run a unit of 'em, and I'd have a Monolith advance infront of them - spewing out Warriors. I'd keep the Paraiahs bunched up as close to the back of the 'lith as possible, so they couldn't be shot at. Now, ofcourse, they're gone... which sucks, I only used them 'cause the models were amazing and I loved seeing them on the table. :(
Okay, Ward did some shit, but I really have to disagree with you on the fact that Newcrons are bad. Sure, I kind of miss their malevolent theme, destroy all life... But don't we have Tyranids for that already? Before the codex update necrons were basically metal Tyranids. It's like the Space Marine inside of a Space Marine crap.
necrons is low race
Nekron
@Sangrenegra9 really? necrons still wanting to purge the damn galaxy, they have a bit more of personality but just the high ranked ones, the minions still being machines, and they turned against the C'tan because they looked like just slaves of their Gods , like the Chaos foes. They still don't have mercy on any enemy, and stop insulting the GW staff, i didn't see you working there, so stop complaining about the work of others, unless you can do it better.
yeah now they arent scary, but you have to admit all the new necron vehicles and machines are pretty cool
ha ha ha... they may be slow but fucking powerfull i have blasted hundreds of eldar by now
Is it just me or are necros RLY overpowered in this game, i usually make a necron lord, 3 necron warriors with 8 warriors, a squad of 5 immortals, and then rush to their HQ, and kill it in 20 sec, too easy xD
except that the 3rd ed codex is no longer valid, im not sure how many people would allow that...even in a friendly game, unless you play at home. To me the new fluff ironically makes the necrons MORE bland instead of having more personality. The story is so boring and predictable now. I love the idea that the C'tan would use the necrons even to the point of replacing them with humans/pariahs.
I'm kinda glad I stopped playing Warhammer--the table top game years ago because from what i've seen and heard from other is that, for example, the Necrons have become some kind of life-force that actually cares what others think? SINCE FUCKING WHEN DID THEY GIVE A SHIT? All they ever wanted to do was exterminate all organic life in the galaxy... That's it. That's all they NEEDED because they were scary as fuck to human standards; Something that you can't negotiate with or ask "why?". ...Grrrrr
How come there is no videos on mine???
