Hello from Italy, I have exactly your equipment, except for 4 tk recorder (i've aTascam 424 Portastudio) In my humble opinion, it would have been better to set the pitch control at max tape speed ... anyway great job!! 👍👍🙂 p.s. thanks for sharing and subscribed to your channel

very cool video. !!! I am going to buy a yamaha mt100 tape recorder That I want to use to record, mix down and then send the stereo output to the daw. The Yamaha mt100 doesn't have an eq so I was thinking to get a mixer too, how would you route the signal? synths direct into the mixer and then into the recorder or synths direct into the recorder and then into the mixer using the recorder tape outs and then from the mixer stereo out into the daw? Thanx for the video. I think it can help. I have a scarlett 2n2 only 2 inputs. Dont have a mixer. I found when connecting the scarlet to my fostex it produces a lot of noise... I'm using my headphones on the scarlet do I need an DI maybe? Thanx

Hi,im cant sync my acoustic drum,electric guitar tape with my DAW click,can i record my acoustic Drum with my tape recorder and dump into DAW align with DAW click using MOTU midi express xt or MOTU micro express using SMPTE? I dont use midi instrument

if i’d like to just record drums from my DAW into track 1 of the portastudio, am i able to do this with just the headphone output of my SSL 2 interface? or do i require more outputs ?

Can i use also headphones instead of the monitors on the tascam ?

Thanks! Glad you liked the video! Sadly you only can bounce all 4 tracks simultaneously. The Cassette mechanism will slightly drift from it's rated speed with each play and you'll encounter sync issues bouncing 1 track at a time. It's the nature of the beast

You could do some time stretching in your daw to align and sync your tracks.

what will it be like to do all tracks in a daw than out to a cassette deck than back into the daw

The behringer umc404 has 4 outputs right?

Is it possible to route each stem from daw out to individual rca outputs on the back of the interface?

It depends on the interface and how many individual output it has. For this application you need at least 4 outputs available

Could the Tascam run into an interface?

A question. Why don't you use the 4 output behind the Scarlett for recording from DAW to tape? But you use the two headphone output instead?

This particular interface only has 2 outs on the back where I have plugged the monitors. If I want to use additional outputs the only option are the HP ones on the front.

It will gonna take a while. I used as an example for that video the vocals of a song I mixed for a client using the porstastudio and I have to wait untill he releases it to not spoil it in any way. Hopefully it will be soon but IDK the exact date

Don’t get it.. you connect TWO cables in focusrite outputs (and the headphones outputs.. there’s no outputs in focusrite?) and FOUR in tascam input.. could someone explain? how did the daw recongized 4 tracks if there were only two cables in pc

Headphone outputs are stereo. Headphone A L/R + B L/R = channels 1, 2, 3, 4

is the same process with tascam porta02mkii?

If I remember correctly the Porta02 don't have individual tape outputs and also can't record into 4 tracks simultaneously so it can be a little different and you may be somewhat limited but still is worth trying

This is up to you. The eternal problem with 4 track machines is stereo vs more tracks. You can record stereo drums but you have only 2 mono tracks left (or one stereo). Just one of several compromises of the medium (and part of the charm if you ask me) cheers!
