I saw Davey and the original Back Door Slam play at the Rickshaw club in San Francisco in 2007. Back then they were too young to drink in the USA, but played blues like they'd been doing it for decades. Awesome stuff!

I seen them before they broke angelica, in a place called the "Castletown" golflinks, a small venue, 200 people max, it was rammed full of teenagers, a great gig, one to remember!

A young Clapton, have they ever played together? That would be gold.

He must have the worst management in history. There is no excuse for him not to be a household word. Tremendous old soul in that voice.

He had a young band in 2008 when I first saw them, but from what I can see he threw them under the bus for a record deal. AND you are right he should be a household name like SRV was. Stevie Ray Vaughan wouldn't tour with Bowie without his band. I thought Davy Knowles was gonna fill that void that SRV left in me, but no. These "older" guys are a bad fit!

@@debcookpamunkey I believe you are totally correct about his actions to do in his original band members, I recall he phoned them up whilst they were back home and he stayed in the US for a bit extra when he did it. They all went to school together or there abouts on the Isle of Man and their lives changed forever!

@@teamosborneracing yep that’s exactly what happend. The band were gaining popularity in the US club scene and some form of management made him a deal, on the basis he dropped Ross ( drummer) and Adam ( bassist) and went on his own. So he did, hasn’t lost his talent but lost that soul/ identity Back Door Slam had when it was just three friends playing together. Shame because if it hadn’t been for Davy firing them they would have been bigger. Shame..

Something about the bass player doesn't fit, but the drummer and Davy seem to be a great combination. They just need..how do I say it. a less awkward looking bass guitarist, who can add some flair to each song. I'm sure he's good, but something about him doesn't blend well with the rest of the band. I can't say exactly what it is. They need someone like Pino Palladino who could play a bit more interesting bass riffs.. I'm just a fan though, so it's not really up to me, but just an observation
