Davy Jones is really epic, he had the cruelty of some of the pirates, and the composure of a real villain, he had ego, pride, backstory (very important for a good villain), CGI, and a sense of humour, but he also had a sense of conscience unlike villains like Voldemort, when Jack was planning to keep Will in Jones's custody for "trading a soul in his favour", Jones asked him if he could live with himself. I always thought his backstory was really sad, like Barbossa, Salazar and Beckett were really good villains, they just didn't have that much backstory

I find it amazing you put "captain of the flying Dutchman", the flying Dutchman wasn't really that powerful compared to Silent Mary, Davy Jones didn't have the Sword of Triton so he couldn't control ropes on Anne's Revenge, but being the Captain of the flying Dutchman speaks volumes nonetheless, it is a status, the fr*ckin Grim Reaper of the seas, comparing Salazar to Davy Jones is like comparing Hiruzen to Death god in Naruto I think.

Makes sense, Davy Jones hunts down the dead and the dying almost all the time and has been around for many decades, meanwhile Salazar has only been around since Jack was alive and hasn’t encountered other humans in years

Captain salazar was 1 of the only bearable things in his film, shame he got wasted on such a bad film

I like Davy Jones more but Salazar has higher IQ and battle IQ and more experience. He had one of the highest statuses you could have in Spain, and with his clever tactics he had wiped out almost all pirates, something even Beckett was incapable of doing. He had the strongest and largest non-pirate ship in the franchise. The Silent Mary could destroy several ships at once while taking no damage herself. She had incredible firepower and speed and her crew was well trained. And don't forget her cursed state. She could destroy entire ships at once by crushing them with her bow and she could even sail effortlessly and quickly while in her ruined state. Salazar and his crew were intangible in their cursed state. So they couldn't get hurt unless they got to dry land, and they could walk through anything effortlessly. They could even possess people. So I think Salazar beats Jones easily, even though Jones is also super powerful.

He is dead and alive at the same time but he is also cursed hence at the end of the movie so Jones can't ferry someone who is not dead so it's going to be a neverending battle but Jones has a slight advantage since his heart is on land somewhere buried on the other hand Salazar isn't stupid stepping on land sinc what happend to one of his crew but he has the ability to posses someone so he has that hut he doesn't know where davys heart is.

I must disagree with one thing when it comes to battle iq it should be Salazar do to it experience oh almost whipping all the pirates off of the earth which is highly stated in the movies second he has a ship twice the size as the Dutchman we all seen the the black pearl is almost the same hight as the Dutchman but Salazars ship is much larger

If anything, Salazar is the only one that can win since he a ghost. Jones has one weakness while Salazar zero expect for land.

No body beats Davy jones, Davy jones has shown in previous movies he has the power to break other curses as shown with bootstrap bill who at the time was at the bottom of the sea unable to die, Davy jones gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse and broke his curse and made him one of the crew of the Dutchman, so with that being said, he would most likely have the power to brake salazars curse and then ferry him to the locker, out of all pirates of the Caribbean villains, Davy jones is the most powerful

Davy Jones 🏴‍☠️ is just the best POTC villain hands down. He was giving an actual character arc. He was given personality. You could understand his pain and and why he was so quite literally heartless. Davy Jones is also very entertaining, due to the amazing line delivery from Bill Nighy. I also find Davy Jones is the perfect balance of comedy, tragedy and terror. Even his design deserves merit for how detailed and awesome it is. Xx

Davy Jones is supposed to guide the dead from the sea to the afterlife and has been shown to remove curses like with Bootstrap Bill, I'm guessing he would simy remove the curse and send them to the locker

Salazar never made sense to me he’s just kinda there out of the blue and you would have thought that if he was actually meant to be important as a real villain he would have been mentioned in stranger tides jones actually does make sense considering the fact that he has a real origin behind his character and not I’m not saying Davy jones was a real guy but his story has been around for a long ass time so it makes sense to have him in the franchise Salazar literally comes out of nowhere with the most basic and boring backstory that wasn’t even worth mentioning in any other movie let’s face it Disney ran out of ideas and thus was born Salazar

To be honest, the main sin of PotC 5 is it's one-movie plot. Original was 3 movies, which plots meshed together, in 5 it's just start and finish. I think Salazar could be a cool antagonist, but: - he was just recycled Davy Jones (curse, ship, lack of ability to walk on land) - his genesis and curse was just crap and stupid as hell If PotC 5 wasn't suffering ,,marvelish" or ,,Matrix 4" curse (plot is consistent only in one movie and it doesn't goes to next movie), I would really liked this part and even Salazar. But this movie was written and directed by people who weren't present during creation of original.

So for those who aren’t aware, Davy imprisoned Calypso after meeting with the first brethren court. According to the lore the first brethren court met before the founding of Greece. Means Davy is old as shit.

But for battle IQ... Salazar was a military guy that nearly got rid of all Pirates, Davy Jones was outsmarted by Beckett (who had p much the same goal) on many occasions and even he didn't get nearly as close as Salazar did.

Salazar tried to hard to be bad to a comical degree. I couldn’t help but laugh every time he was on screen. He just isn’t scary.

It’s really a give or take. Both wouldn’t be able to kill eachother bc one doesn’t have his heart and the other is technically dead and a ghost. 🤔 So unless one had found the heart and the other had found the trident it would end in a stalemate

Salazar is not smart, he tried to follow Jack into small cave and died there. Jack, a young man, fooled him. And even if he wouldn't and both of them just sailed into cave, Silent Mary still would be too big and would crushed anyway. So where is Salazar's IQ then? Jones has much more better curse origin. Salazar is just recycled Jones with almost all of his dis/abilities. Jones was on the sea much more time that Salazar (Jones is older than Sparrow)
