L'histoire se déroule en l'an 1810, quelque part dans les montagnes sauvages de l'est du Tennessee. Davy Crockett vit reculé dans la nature et apprend le métier de trappeur d'une saison à l'autre, pour ensuite devenir le
pionnier aguerri surnommé le chasseur d'ours au bonnet en peau de raton laveur. Il fut aussi juge de paix, colonel et homme politique. En mars 1836, il prit part à la défense du Fort Alamo au Texas, pris d'assaut par l'armée mexicaine, et périt au cours de la bataille.

The story takes place in the year 1810, somewhere in the wild mountains of Tennessee. Davy Crockett lives remote in nature and learns the trade of a trapper from one season to the next and then becomes the seasoned pioneer known as the bear hunter with the raccoon-skin bonnet.
