Davinci Resolve Tutorial: Stroke Logo Reveal Outline Effect

Фильм және анимация

In this Davinci Resolve tutorial, we're going to create a stroke animation using any logo. We'll be importing an SVG file inside fusion and animating it using the paint node's Write-On effect.
This is my very first tutorial on Davinci Resolve, I'm super new to this application so bear with me if the quality is not up to the mark. I may have made this complicated but as I said I'm new to this node based editing workflow. Have fun.
Like and shares are appreciated : )

Fusion is resolution independent. The reason why your frame is stretching is because whatever is in the background determines the canvas size resolution. You can put a bg node in the background at 600*600 and that will keep your image from stretching.

Probably too late to be helpful, but just in case... In the Background node that the svg is attached to, change the resolution to match that of the svg - do so by selecting the second tab of the node's options (icon looks like a photo, if it is set to auto resolution then disable that). Should prevent all that guess work and scaling distortion.

Problem: When I click on "connect to", I'm not offered my path1. However, what I saw is, that if I double click on my svg node, I've got more inside than you (path1, background1, background2, merge1). I'm wondering if this is the reason. Anybody experiencing the same? Thanks. PS: I made the svg in Adobe Illustrator, maybe it has to do with export settings.

The reason the 2nd image stretched is because the Background2 node's size is 1920x1080. To fix, click on the Background2 node, and then in the Inspector window, click Image, uncheck the "Auto Resolution" checkbox, then adjust the width and height to match what you're already using. You'll have to do this with every background node you insert

make sure your SVG file has some thick border line. When imported it will show as group, and in right click for animation -> right click -> path -> select polyline. Sometime the white will be beneath the green line, so connect the paint to mediaout to verify it was there.

@@LeatherClass Import your SVG file in Fusion. Try it with a simple SVG which has a simple shape like a circle so you can get the idea first. You should see a path node attatched to a background node. Click on the path node. Then in the inspector at the bottom you should see Right click here for shape animation. Right click on that text and choose Publish. Then create a Background node and connect Paint node to it. Click on Paint node and make sure you drag it to viewer so you can see it on screen. You'll see poloyline option in the toolbar of Paint node. Click on that. Then in the inspector under Stroke Controls option, you have to again right click for shape animation, then from the list choose Connect To > polyline > Value. You should see your shape now. If it is stretched then you can go to background node and change the Width/Height. I hope that helps.
