I just don´t know where to start. I have seven brothers and we are all Sylvian fans. I have so many fond memories of when we were young and the world in front of us. We played David from sunrise to sunset. All our girlfriends became Sylvian or Japan fans. I feel happy when I think back to those daring years full of energy, laughter and tears. On summer days `Gone to Earth`was playing loud with open windows, God that was bliss! I just hope that he will again make music with good lyrics as that of `Gone to Earth` Some friends and myself went to the King Crimson Concert in Copenhagen 23/9/2016 and we discussed over some beers after the concert how lovely it would be to hear David Sylvian again make a proper album. I miss him and I wish him well.

Me too Wilma,i saw him in may 88 in Bari first, and in Rome just one week after, and i've mengaed to make some shots after the Bari concert, one of them with Steve Jansen, but unfortunately,i photographed David just some meters separeted to me because too much people. I was 18 y.o.and i starded from Rome by train that unforgettable night, and thanks to my relatives in Bari i'menaged to have my ticket in a great place just few meters to the band. One of the best concert i've ever seen,of cours... But unfortunately Secrets of the beehive(not to mention the superb Gone to Earth, one of the best music album ever)was the last David masterpiece. I really can' t like almost all his works after them. Backing to that'88 concert i remember all the amazing musicians of the band, and even i love Mark Isham,i prefered Jon Hassel at the trumpet for that tour. Best regards to all of you, from Rome,MaxMode

And my expectations were very high. He was very shy with the audience, concentrated on his job. At the end of the last encore, some ladies sent him few flowers. My girlfiend become my wife. We are still together and love David.

+Bryan Baldwin I think I went to this concert too, but I'm not sure. Do you have a playlist? Does it include Eindhoven? I can't seem to find this on line. I went to see David in Eindhoven in 2007 but I'm sure I watched him perform at the same theatre before. I know I went to see his show in 1993 at the Royal Albert, but I'm not sure about the exact date of the tour which I went to see in Eindhoven before. Chucked away the ticket stubs of course....

Saw him at Sheffield City Hall in June 1988 - bought the ticket the day before. The 'teenyboppers' rushed to the front and were indulgently ushered back to their seats. A captivating 2-hour show which I managed to tape from the stalls. Fantastic. My friend was supposed to see him in Manchester a few days later but David Torn apparently broke his hand - I did him a copy of the Sheffield show as a consolation.

Where did you go to school in LA? I was 18 in 88 too and went to school in North San Diego county but went to LA often for drama festivals for school. First boyfriend was from Northridge who I met at a festival. It's just cool to see someone in SoCal here and from the same time, have a great 2020

@@richardlew5316 ha, just Camp Pendleton in between, I graduated from Carlsbad High in 88. Love Depeche Mode too, but I arrived at David Sylvian and Japan in a backwards kind of way, in 83/84 my friends got me into Duran Duran but I liked their earlier and more ambient music and started to read a lot about music. When I saw they claimed to be influenced by Japan, Bowie, and Roxy Music, I had to hear it, well, walked towards the influences and scarcely looked back. Add Bauhaus and you have my top 5💜

@@jenniferhollingsworth1275 I saw 3/4 of Bauhaus in 1986 which was L&R that was the best concert ever it was with The Lucy Show and The Bolshoi. I seen Roxy Music and that was carbon copy David Sylvian stage set up. Those concerts were mirror of each other. Bauhaus/Japan were #2,#3 but my fave was The Smiths I got to see them live too.

@@richardlew5316 The Smiths definitely in my top 10, saw New Order with Echo and the Bunnyman, in the downtown sports arena, Echo was better live but prefer New Order. Saw the Cure twice in the 80s and they were always a great concert. Never saw Ministry but they're touring this year and the new acoustic version of Everyday is Halloween is excellent. Hoping to get back into concert going this year, really hoping Bauhaus makes it back to the westcoast and that Voltaire plays after San Diego Comic-Con💜 have a good Thursday

Those, who gets David Sylvian will have allergy attack with anything musically contrived or derivative. His material original and uncompromisingly so. The fact that he never cared for popularity with fickle masses while risking to appear cold and snobbish is self-explanatory. Well, that is a good repellant from idiots. Once hooked on his atmospheric sound and haunting voice one is just staying put. It is a long-winded affair with David Sylvian's music for this fan since the Japan times. This otherwordly stuff was discovered by yours truly in then still looking solid Soviet Union. Instantly bolled over with his original sound and ironic words I found my spot of escape, the promise and the hope all at once. Never looked back ever since. Sylvian have has changed and mutated as an artiust in all these subsequent decades and so his listeners including this one. But Sylvian's canon is rich, diverse and compelling at every turn. So we are set. For life.
