Well that's a little weird, I was not aware that David interviewed them back when Dalton was in the band. I'm not sure what to make of this.

Braxtyn Birrell I don't know if this is what they remembered him from, but they did know him reasonably well because in interviews they (actually, mainly Dalton) said that if they had another member they'd want it to be him. It's kind of nice to know that David and Dalton got along before Dalton left
