This is surely the greatest, most performance of Brahms' D Minor Sonata ! Not just because of Oistrakh , but because of Sviatoslav Richter. After all, in the sublime Brahms sonatas for violin and piano, the plays an equal part in the music and is the furthest thing from the role of an accompanist.

+Martin Weiss Perhaps not quite unparalleled (e.g.Perlman/Barenboim) but nevertheless colossal perfection.
Is it any wonder Oistrakh died of a heart attack?! He played w fire pouring through his veins nine to the dozen! Knocks me sideways! Richter follows in like manner, but well-lit by Oistrakh's lead, the whole thing burningly passionate w/o ever damaging a string! If one compares, for example, the v clean interpretation by Leonidas Kavakos & Yuja Wang, it becomes clear that in order to set this thing ablaze, one has to be willing to get their hands dirty.
@filippopassarella7804

I actually think that is Richter the "mind" of this duo. He had such a great sensitivity, he was always in research of a deep spirituality. Maybe musically is more subtle, but I think that the greatness of this performance derives of course by the great chemistry between the two, but also by the subtility that Richter had

gud You misunderstand the question. It is assumed the listener is here for this piece & thus this is not a matter of musical tastes differing, at least not in so far as classical vs hard rock etc is concerned, but why those who like the piece do not like this interpretation. It is a highly valid question, I assure you.

the 47 losers who gave Oistrakh and Richter thumbs down, are the same losers on FB pages , who would look at a harmless oil painting of a violinist, and start write a 100 page essays of how violin should be held, etc, without even being asked. These are infants of musicians, mostly wanna-be good- violinists, the same losers who dare to talk about the divine Anne Sophie Mutter, and god of all violin playing, here Mr. Oistrakh- whose hands should have been engraved and preserved in gold, for ever. To all of you here who gave these two gods thumbs down, you are frustrated under achievers, suzuky teachers, who feel they might get some little attention by putting someone down, especially Oistrakh.... You feel cool now, don't you? Go practice some Rode, or something , around 18 hours a day Like Parker, then go attempt to produce 10% of the sound this man has , and if you do, then you may open your mouth slightly. Until then, shut the hell up.

Men like these will never walk this earth again…
three of a kind at their most expressive and sensitive best, and they can let fly wonderfully; what would they be without eachother, perhaps not quite so great

By three you include Brahms? Nice.
Look at how that top plate is almost looking straight at us! Very similar between him and Itzahk Perlman even the vibrato! Wonderful performance of a gorgeous score thank you Mr Brahms!🙏🏻

Two great virtuosos are producing an amazing performance !!
A riveting performance from Oistrakh and Richter!
Brilliant playing, as always from Oistrakh! He had so much endurance because he kept his bow arm close to his body and used the force of gravity for all the down-bow action.
Extraordinario!!...Dos "monumentos" reunidos!!!
Im here thanks to Shamo
A magnificent piece of History ~ thank you !
Thank you so much for uploading this 😍
This is surely the greatest, most performance of Brahms' D Minor Sonata ! Not just because of Oistrakh , but because of Sviatoslav Richter. After all, in the sublime Brahms sonatas for violin and piano, the plays an equal part in the music and is the furthest thing from the role of an accompanist.

Ofc their roles are equally vital to the full expression of this sonata. No one leads. They collaborate.

Heard this live with David Lisker on violin and Ronaldo Rolim at piano! Amazing piece! The piano part is phenomenal!
Какое счастье для меня - слушать эту сонату в исполнении двух величайших исполнителей целой эпохи! Благодарю!
Great rendition of a great work
O.M.G We just witness something come from heaven!
Beautiful!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Brutal! Richter had *not* two five-finger hands, but one ten-finger one! I LOVE him!

Magnifica esecuzione!!!

첫 소리부터 와...👍👍
Is it any wonder Oistrakh died of a heart attack?! He played w fire pouring through his veins nine to the dozen! Knocks me sideways! Richter follows in like manner, but well-lit by Oistrakh's lead, the whole thing burningly passionate w/o ever damaging a string! If one compares, for example, the v clean interpretation by Leonidas Kavakos & Yuja Wang, it becomes clear that in order to set this thing ablaze, one has to be willing to get their hands dirty.

I actually think that is Richter the "mind" of this duo. He had such a great sensitivity, he was always in research of a deep spirituality. Maybe musically is more subtle, but I think that the greatness of this performance derives of course by the great chemistry between the two, but also by the subtility that Richter had
Ryo Narushima has good taste in music

第二乐章开始3秒钟我的眼泪就出来了,这琴声怎么可以加入如此深厚的情感!

MauWayne its known to be one of the hardest pieces ever written for piano accompaniment to violin. When I refer to it being a concerto, the difficulty is way up there with concertos.

Sorry I don't think any of you are musicians. I said what what I said because the piano part is significantly harder than the violin part, its not incredibly challenging for the violin, its the way Brahms writes accompaniments. Its the same for his G major sonata.

Why 9 thumb-downs? I wanna hear their reason. Isn't the music beautiful? Didn't your tears pour out when you heard the first phrase of the second mov? How come you don't like their performance? I just don't understand

I must admit that this performance by masters wasn't superb at some parts. Maybe there are real musicians who have noticed little misleading moments in this playing and didn't enjoy it - that's why they disliked. some people are just smarter than us.

gud You misunderstand the question.
