I'm getting this recommended daily, and, I'm watching it daily now. I love the way the dynamics build up in this, from a gentle stroll to a roaring fieriness around midway through, and then a tapering off (love the kind of call and resonse improv too). That kind of gradual dynamic interplay really reminds me of how OP, Ray Brown and Herb Ellis used to do it.

Joy springs eternal with this trio. Newton is, as most of his contemporaries will acknowledge, a world-class musician whose lyricism is a constant delight, and here the interplay between him, Clark and Morgan lifts this interpretation well above the average. Another little gem from the front room of Malcolm Frazer, to whom we are all most grateful.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Particularly Dave's "lyricism". It's like he's composing as he goes along. Not just scale stuff like many pianists, but actual little riffs and melodies that get developed.....just a joy to listen to...during any season :-)

You guys are really good together. Out of all the ones I listened to, this one was the best. I love the way your bass player plays his instrument. His note choices are spot on.

What a fabulous confabulation of melody, innovation, swing and joy unalloyed. In other words - pretty damn good.
