I agree 100% with the "enofanone´s" coment.People who listened this tune by first time-(like me )- when it came out,was inmediatly trapped by the magic of this masterpiece. And some people who makes negatives comments about Mr.Naughton or this hit,is just becouse they feel envy about how hot David was,and how requested this melody became in every disco-club ALL AROUND THE GLOBE.

being, a dance music artist, myself.. it is so painful to watch these 70's-90's perf. videos, while, energetic rec. artists try their best to give it all that they've got. & the lackluster audience just sits their.. as if, they're waiting for a bus. if/ when you might be on the receiving end of a show? please, know that artists 'do' look to you for a smile, a pot. thumbs up, any sign of life. lol, true.

How I first recall hearing this in Meatballs and even before I knew of the TV Show too. To my local Lost 45s radio show I Requested it in 1987 saying please play Makin' it because this time in Life I'm making it.Then it turned out to be twice as suitable a request by me for the Lost 45s not yet played and for the verse of Listen everyone here this coming year's gonna be my year and suitable because of how that year on the Chinese Calandar it was my year being the year of the rabbit. As The DJ Barry scott also put it "Going out to Steve in Framingham."

I agree. The best of the one hit wonders! He made it to the top of the ladder with this song. His dancing was kinda cool too!
This is perfect for Disco!🎶🎶🎶🎶😊
God man.. I remember Merv... Get me up there and I would be dancing my ass off even if from a power chair....
Even pop garbage back then was so much better then today. I was either 6 or 7 years old when this came out and I still love it.
Had and still do have the biggest crush on him and LOVE this song. My favorite was American Warewolf
It's the music of my childhood, I remember that my older brother came home with his friends to dance it before going to the disco.Beautiful memories : -)
Hard to believe that's the American werewolf in London guy lol, now I see him different now.
Proof that you can make up the choreography as you go!
I feel so bad for him...he's so fucking energetic and trying to sell this to a crowd at the Ramada in Long Beach.
Well, he definetly had stage presence.

Excelente canción.
And those spins of his are just dynamite! You can tell he really practiced them lol
Damn!...for some reason, I am so thirsty for a DR. Pepper!

This dude didn't give a shit he did everything.
being, a dance music artist, myself.. it is so painful to watch these 70's-90's perf. videos, while, energetic rec. artists try their best to give it all that they've got. & the lackluster audience just sits their.. as if, they're waiting for a bus. if/ when you might be on the receiving end of a show? please, know that artists 'do' look to you for a smile, a pot. thumbs up, any sign of life. lol, true.

Love you David! Does not get better than this!!! I wish at 45 I was this handsome and on top of the world. Will keep that confidence in 2011!!
makes me smile every time I watch this
Always loved David Naughton, he's such a trip. Really just seems to love life and gives it his all and what the heck.
Great performance !! Should have had a part as john travolta’s younger brother in saturday night fever.
David was a great actor and I won't lie I dig this with my whole head ol David was sadly underrated as a singer...this makes me profoundly sad almost morose makes me want something I can never have back...not ever longfull wistful and bittersweet
He's makin' it.

He is so natura! And, yes - high energy! That is something we all should have! God bless your Mom and you Beautifulmusiclistnr! Also, I agree, with you urmaniac! I told my classmates to vote it as a class theme song for 1980! I loved it that much and still do. Even as a go through this divorce, today it still lifts me up and tells me, I am OK!

Doing His Dr Pepper Commercials, Top 5 hit, movies @ performances the man was balling.
I have always secretly loved this song!
This song is classic, fresh, fun and still is worthy of listening to wh.en you need a lift
He was An American Werewolf in London but also starred in a show with the song as it's title MAKING IT. It was a sort of SNF ripoff with him in a John Travolta white suit. I loved it and him!
I finally after many years, realized he's not saying "Goodbye Poppa T" but actually "Goodbye Poverty"
Hahahah, sing and dance at the same time? I think he is lip-syncing. I didn't know they had cordless mics in '79. This song just popped in my head and I found this. It is a catchy tune! Thanks for posting!
Did he just do a jazz square?!?! I LOVE IT!!! An American Werewolf in London is the greatest movie ever! After watching this bit of awesome, I love him even more!!
Yeah. It's about making it in all aspects of life: Business, love, marriage, school, family, friends, work and so much more. Thanks for the video!
My friend Roxanne and I watched David Naughton's series and had the biggest crush on him!!!!
Great song and performance. The best one hit wonder of all time😀👍
what once passed for talent.
david is a fucking legend...pardon my lanuage...but fuck it..hes a bloody legend in my book
great music love it.
I bet it is hard to dance and sing that much at once. Wish I felt that good.
I couldn't have stayed seated. That song's a banger.
one of discos greats
Whoa….Nice Dancing! 😂
So Handsome and talented.
Crowds completly still..lol..Luv this song Meatballs Soundtrack..
This video is life, havn't laughed this hard for a while.
Thank you for posting this!! Love it:)
If young people today actually were inspired by this instead of the crap they listen to today there might be hope for the future. God Bless David for dancing his way through a painfully long introduction and God Bless you too!
I just randomly typed in "makin it" not expecting anything good, then this awesome classic popped up. I never did know exactly what they were saying.
Un lobito a todo dar ❤😊
Que saudade desse tempo muito dancei essa música
If you are about to be robbed, start singing and dancing like this to create confusion.

Wadda hunk! Oooo, did I crush in him back then! Damn!
the audience was on shock ....seeing this white boy dancing...i like that song i lot.
When American Werewolf in London came out, I was often told many times how much I resembled him.
That intro with him dancing looks like a really drunk guy at a party...hahaha.

It's called talent and enjoying himself.
Was watching Detroit Rock City and wanted to see if this was a real song!! Too funny!! What a much simpler time life was 40 years ago!! KEEP SMILING-
Here from Subway commercial. Love this! ❤
Love this song. Been trying to find it on cd with no luck. One of my favorites in Meatballs.
Eu amo éssa música!
David has the moves!
I was 18 in 1979 and was a great dancer this guy dances like he has jock itch!
The audience is star struck 🤩
