@Xmaggot93X ..So true. His numbers should be so much higher. Its ironic how a guy who never played for numbers doesn't have the ones he should. . I've never seen anybody swing the bat like he did. Shame he went out mid-season like he did. I admire his ability to own up to his shortcomings and swallow his pride. Goodbye to hands down, one of the greatest natural talents the game has ever, and will ever see. I'd be shocked if in the coming years he didn't come back as Seatlle's hitting coach.

Yeah for real. I'm a Tribe fan but Griffey Jr. is one of the best ever and one of my favorite players. If he hadn't been hurt often, there's a good chance he breaks the HR record.

I read somewhere from baseball analysis that the Griffey's injuries costed him at least 150 HR. He could have had at least 780 Homeruns. He's more of a homerun king than bonds

Injuries aside, Ken Griffey Jr. is still going down as one of the best. That is only solidified by the fact he has not taken steroids. I believe, 100%, he will get into the HOF. First ballot.

That's probably true, but Ruth also hit over 100 home runs if he had played in the same smaller ballparks that McGwire hit his 70 in (and probably more in today's even smaller parks). If he hit one to center, he had to hit it 500 feet.

@Xmaggot93X its true but remember that the 28.8 avg went down precisely by the injuries the avg should be 35 SO EASILY without injuries and maybe 40 cuz in cinci his only healthy season get 40hrs so healthy il put him 38hr of avg per season having in mind the natural slump of a veteran player cuz normally he could get at least two more seasons with 50 and maybe two more with 40 then the natural slump would arrive with 25hrs or so... he culd break all the records HEALTHY

@Xmaggot93X and u also have to factor in the fact that players coming back from injury take time to readjust so his numbers should be even better if he wasnt hurt so much.dang

  • @juliandawdaw

@Xmaggot93X but then also think about when he was in his prime when he wasnt averaging 28.88. and seeing this was 10 months ago now he has 630 and add another 40 to that and u get 670 and add that 100 and get 770

as a griffey fan i agree he could have close to 1,000 by now but you shitted on bonds and i think steroids or no roids you gotta tip your hat to him even if he has a bad attitude yada yada w/e cuz when you look at the homeruns he has thats nothing i want you to look at who has the most walks also! so for barry to get walked as much as he did and just get 1 or 2 balls that were actually hitable is amazing but to me griffey was the poster child of the 90s he was the man with the bat and the glove

@macjeff77, a decent pitcher? He was definitely more than decent before he decided to switch to OF. Please look up his stats and compare it to other greats of his time such as Walter Johnson, etc. I do agree with you that the fields were big back then, resulting in more triples than current players but also adds more awe to his HR stats since not many of his contemporaries were at his level.
