Listening to Dave talk. I think he misses being on television. He delivers so well and with so much patience and impact. Not to take anything away from Drew. But Dave seems to be in his element.

For sure. I remember it being on the magazines the next day lol. Within my friends it was hey did you see letterman last night and we're talking about it. That was how you found stuff out still. Doesn't it always feel like yesterday? I can't grasp time. It's baffling. Will say those times were awesome back then. I don't care what anyone says. Drew looks better and better with age. You can sense that she is herself on screen.

I remember watching this on Letterman that night. At the time, Drew had a 'wild child' reputation, so when it happened, I wasn't surprised. If anything, to me, it came off as wild, but cute gesture. Had she faced the audience, maybe the reaction would have been different, but it was all for David, and in previous interviews, he had always treated Drew with kindness. I'm so proud to witness the woman she has become. Beautiful inside and out.

46 yrs. old, and she has a child like face , a sweet personality and truly nice to look at. Rare from a child star / start.

its beautiful that she appreciates still that he didnt make fun of her, and shes kept the same vibe going. just let people be let the moment unravel, as long as youre not harming anyone then just have fun and let others do the same.

I just loved her since ET. She is a talented actress and director, creative, intelligent, hilarious and seems humble. Loved her in 50 First Date amongst the rest of her films and interviews.

I love Drew so much. There’s never been a version of Drew Barrymore that wasn’t endearing and kind hearted. I’m lucky enough to have crossed paths with her a bit in the 80s and 90s as a fellow child actor in LA. So happy she has found her groove and is happy and well. She’s a constant inspiration.

After 35 years, I just fell back in love with Drew Barrymore. She was fantastic on Stern.

She will always have that childlike smile and gaze with her wide eyes. When I look at Drew and hear her voice it brings a smile to my face.

Drew has seriously lived in her years on earth. She went through things in childhood that would have destroyed some grown adults. But thankfully she got away from it and back on the right track. Always been a fan and I'm glad to see her doing so well.

She has such a genuine heart and Dave feels like an uncle. I always watched his show with my Dad. Such beautiful memories.

Drew flashing Dave was a fun, spur of the moment thing. No need to go so deep and philosophical about it imo. Dave enjoyed every second of it, why would she think he would be upset about it. Didn't hurt ratings I'm sure. A memorable moment.

I love Drew!! She’s a true gem in the industry!! She hasn’t changed one bit. Big beautiful personality, genuine strong woman!You can feel her heart when she speaks. I’m proud of her making it being a child actor..She made it through with class!!

I remember watching that specific David Letterman show. Drew is going to be so adorable when she gets older like Goldie Hawn.

I was watching Dave that night when Drew did that and I laughed so hard I rolled off the sofa! I think that shocked everyone into realizing that little tiny girl in the E.T. movie that we all loved so much, had grown up on into a beautiful and well adjusted young lady! Love you Drew - great work over the years!

I also vividly remember this. I was obsessed with Drew as a young adult. Her birthday is just a few days before my own and she is just a couple years old than me. She was kind of a role model to me. I remember in that moment thinking she kind of embodied what we all should be. Free.

Fantastic segment. I've always loved Drew, and she's really grown as a person over the years.

This was so touching and heartfelt. I remember the iconic moment well, but hadn't appreciated until now the full scope of its impact.

Ive had a crush on Drew since I was 9 years old back in the 80s, thats still going strong. She has to be one of the most genuinely sweet and loving person on the planet.

Dave was one of my many inspirations I chose television and film as a career. I even had a cake at my high school open house just before college, with a caricature of Dave holding my own Top 10 list. I worked in TV for 18 years, but I’ve never had quite the moments that this show did over the years. I’d have absolutely loved to have worked for Dave. I think we have similar senses of quirky irreverent humor, and I’m originally from the Midwest too. I just get him. Only the first 8 years or so of my career were really comfortable, with the next 10 being a see-saw of freelancing with full time work, being out of work, freelancing with partial work, struggling, and most recently and for a long time being unemployed. I’m now 44 and have pretty much lost all hope, but I wish I could have worked on Letterman. It just would have clicked. Drew is another who I grew up with, almost in the same generation. From an early age, Steven Spielberg was and still is my favorite director. So obviously I first was aware of Drew in E.T. like most others. I know she’s had highs and lows, but she’s been one of those celebrities who has always been around who I feel like I know.

She has always been my favourite even when I was kid. Truly a gem 💎, also love Dave and their friendship.

I worked with Drew on Riding in Cars with Boys! She is so sweet, down to earth and talented!

Dave is the best...I watched him from his very first show until he signed off...love him!! I saw the original airing of Drew's moment on the desk as well. It was one of those special moments in time that anyone watching, knew would connect the two of them forever. He is truly a treasure!! 🧡
