The story behind it is funny,he added greg and billy partially to show he didn't care about being the only blonde and got vai for the people that thought eddie couldn't be replaced lol

This is great for any guitarists who want to jam the solo to the real backing.

I always liked this song better than the rest of the album combined.

Should have been the 2nd or 3rd single, in my opinion.

Love this song ! This groove ! Great guitar solos always come with great songs.

...Steve's original Marshall head and cab from this tour just sold on eBay last year for around 10 grand...I was outbid at 7,500

Now THAT is an amazing guitar part. I so wish Vai would do an album of straight ahead rock songs again. The new stuff is on a whole new level of studio production excellence, but there's no just no substitute for a Strat-type, a loud valve amp, and a Dave.

Hina was called Tahina originally. If you would like to share it there a few hundred thousand Vai and Roth diehard fans out there who have been looking a long time for this, and USB to tape / tape to USB kits cost less than $10 depending where you look. But I have to say I share *****'s skepticism because Vai himself has said in many interviews that his pre-vocals mix will likely never be released.

...and on ***** not owning the rights, it's only illegal to financially gain from unreleased recordings. After 20 years bootlegs and demos fall under fair use for historical archive, reference, critical review, and education. So don't let that put you off.

***** It's fairly easy - put tape in your machine, plug a cable from the machine's headphone socket into the line-in on your computer. Record the line-in as you play the tape using some simple free software such as Audacity. Save the file when you're done. It'd make a lot of fans very happy for not much effort!

Sounds like the backing tracks were already done, and this is the ghost vocal take to work on overdubs. Would be nice to hear it a little earlier in the process. Vai has said in interviews that the demos for Skyscraper were "more raw" than the final mix. Got to hope they're out there somewhere, or released officially one day maybe?

i agree i don't see how others can like this better, its missing many of the good lines of the song.

The backing tracks were just like the original until it got to the solo and then ... NO GUITAR SOLO! 😭
