This song cut me to the heart while at the same time it lifted my spirits by affirming we all have enemies/life occurrences which at times let us know that we all are on the same boat/earth and that no one is above another person; we all bleed the same. Thank God for David Gray.

this is exactly how I feel about this song, David Gray is truly amazing

When God made David gray he was just showing off

I saw him play this at another venue years ago, with the same acoustic portion at the end. I've never seen anything like it, at the end, the whole audience just sat there for a few seconds in silence. Then, we slowly started into applause that went on for a long time. Amazing.

Very seldom are live versions even as good as the recorded version,but I dare say this extended version is better than the one on the CD..great back and forth guitar play between them

someone once told me that if you want to grab an audience by the feels, minor chords are the key. We resonate to them, apparently. And it seems that many of David Gray's songs are heavy on those minor chords...not, you understand, that i'm complaining...I once drove to a writer's conference in Iowa City, and my CDs were all David Gray and Bos Seger. No regrets.

I've seen him live 3 times and he is just breathtaking! Absolutely phenomenal!!!!

One of my favorites of his newer stuff. Saw him perform it live in Denver. I cried. I dont cry at funerals for family members. I have listened to him since the mid to late 90s no one understood why.... lyrics... lyrics.... so much soul in his voice. Oh and live he is funny as hell! Concert was better because I went with my favorite person on earth... you know who you are

better than air.... thanks david, and thanks to marcel for sharing this. i was listening to this album a lot around the time my puppy, pele, died from lung cancer. by the time i found out how sick he was i only got 8 more days with him. it has been 11 years and i still grieve... this song will always remind me of him, as i listened to it a ton while we went on our final walks together. black lab/german shepard mixes make great companions.

So wish me luck world, because I think she’s thinking and willing to try again with me!!!

damn, swiss audiences are good at allowing quiet passages to happen..... what a great interplay of guitars and voice. i got to see him in a symphony hall in san francisco.... it was pretty surreal to have such an excellent band play with perfect acoustics. thanks for sharing this video.

One of the most talented songwriters out there I believe. You can tell he's got such a passion for music; if I heard this without watching the video I would probably think this was the actual track and not a live version. It's simple, beautiful and raw passion at it's finest.

This song is a whole journey in itself

Unfreakin' real...notwithstanding the absolute quality of song writing and its delivery, this is at the top end itself, but the musicianship between Mr Grey and rest of the band to produce this live, at this quality, is up there with the best. But then again, I'm a David Grey fan but also Motorhead, Ozzy, AC/DC...Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan....what can I say...

This is a beautiful song that melts your heart. I love it and today was the first time I ever heard it.

No artist makes me happier, I most certainly am a David Gray wanna be who also realizes that's not quite the right "Dream" - I should say he most inspires me to be unafraid to be who I am, he's being his natural self, sharing raw emotion with his audience - musicians and reat singers are today's true healers. They provide food for our starving souls, at least mine ;)

David performed a brilliant rendition of this song in Killarney Co Kerry a few years ago. It was the highlight of a fantastic concert.
