David Goggins - How To Build Extreme Mental Strength (4K)
David Goggins is a retired United States Navy SEAL, ultramarathon runner, triathlete, public speaker and an author.
The ability to overcome challenges in life is one we will all need sooner or later. Make no mistake, discomfort is coming for you whether you're ready or not. Goggins happens to be one of the best individuals on earth at dealing with hard things and after 4 years without any podcast appearances, I met him in Vegas to find out what new insights he's uncovered.
Expect to learn what most people get wrong about motivation, Goggins' thoughts on claims that SEAL selection is too hard, what the most painful experience of his life was, the danger of success making you soft, why he ran the MOAB 240 twice with no knee cartilage, why he recorded a mixtape of insults from the internet, how to overcome laziness, what David's entire daily routine of discipline looks like and much more...

This guy isn’t balanced. In life you most of us draw from being within a group a marriage a family. His voice and intensity are not healthy for Corning relationships. He is studied and observed by certain men that think this is the epitome of manhood “stay hard”. Whiles I get it a lot of it I don’t! Switching off having a laugh chilling out coming home playing with your kids seeing your wife is what most balance humans are about. This man talks all of this but is selling a product hence the podcasts selling his new book. However he doesn’t have a chick or treat to call his own. No children no family no wife. What amazes me about Goggins is his humbleness. He could easily be more popular than he is right now. However, instead of seeking fame, he seeks personal growth every day. This is so inspirational.
This man is a mental titan. Props to David Goggins for showing us how tough our minds can get.
When I first heard David's story on rogan it hit me hard. I got obsessed with running.. Never as far as him, but I had a 400 mile month once, and one 50 mile run and I'm very proud of that. Turns out running was my cure to anxiety, and was the catalyst that got me sober and now a very active father. There's a lot of hurt in the world, and there can be, nobility in choosing and accepting it.

I think about all the suffering that David Goggins went thru as a kid and then as an adult through his physical training. I know it was awful for him but he did an amazing thing. He gave all that suffering a purpose by opening himself up to the world and sharing the transformation he went through. To take such an awful thing and turn it into great purpose is tremendous and shows the true strength of character he has. Thank you David Goggins for not falling permanently into a victim mindset but instead modeling for all of us what it means to be a true warrior and a champion. Thank you!

Even after reading his books and visualizing the things he's been through in his life, its still wild hearing the stories he has to tell.

Nuanced? Don't think you know what that word means, his mentality is about as straightforward as it gets.

"It's hard to process information during pain" so true😢
For anyone reading this, I hope 2023 is the most PAINFUL year of your life. Sounds depressing, right? But you KNOW by now that pain is the only way to massive progress. So whether it's more job interviews, sales calls, running miles or kilograms lifted... Let's make this the most painful year of our life - Goggins style! I just wanna say thank you for this. I find David Goggins to be one of the only people who truly get me to wake the fuck up, instead of sleep walking through my life. And I guess I just wanna say thank you for bringing his message to the public, un-filtered, real and raw. WAY too much of the shit on KZread is completely watered down and ruined by flashy edits and stupid hype music, companied by a meat head podcaster, slapping his arms or beating their chest or roaring like it's all about male solidarity. It's not. Goggins is about inner strength found through darkness, and as someone who looks for as much Goggins wisdom as possible. Once again, I just wanna thank you for clearly understanding his message. And bringing it to the people who need help, without slaughtering its truth and impact with that typical brand of murky shade, cringe, Goku behaviour
On Peace: JBP once said “maybe being dissatisfied is what makes you feel satisfied.” That really stuck with me.
David Goggins saved my life . I got tired of seeing evil everyday, bullies (grown adults). Im no punk , I’m respected but people test me everyday, ones who don’t know me and judge ,I’m currently in the military. You get tired of doing right, pleasing others all day that you forget about yourself and your family because you assume they are ok . Everyone is in a different boat , but Thank You Goggins, you saved my life honestly . I owe you .
The most impressive thing about Goggins is the fact he resisted answering most of these questions with ‘STAY HARD’
Big respect David. You are the real deal! Watching you is 😢 bringing a big lump to my throat! You are a good man- keep growing! Massive respect for a real man and a warrior! I am a 70 year old Englishman recovering from a stroke who has just discovered you and discovered there's plenty for my generation to learn from younger generations. More than everything you are a wise man, much wiser than me for all my life experience! Thank you so much!
Anytime I see a David Goggins post, I roll my eyes because I know what he’s gonna say. Then I listen, and every single time I feel like I can run through brick walls 😅. A vicious cycle
David goggins is the best. I don't wake up an run 100 miles but I've started working out everyday and I swear it's like the depression fell off me.

Listened to this on Spotify while I was working but wanted to come back to KZread just to give a like and comment for the KZread algorithm. This genuinely was a good podcast in the ways you interacted with David with the questions asked. The work you put in prior to this meeting really shows. As well, the audio and video quality here is Crisp ! Well done Chris and Dean!
Just a note for people taking up running. It is easy to misconstrue David's messages to mean go out there and push yourself as hard as you can all the time. For running as a beginner this will most likely cause injury. He advocates training by heart rate (which is moderate/easy running) which is widely accepted as the best method (often known as maffetone training). The pushing yourself part is showing up and getting after it almost every day. This will make you a good runner. You have to (for most people) build a base of fitness and strength before doing the harder training. Source: learned the hard way. All the best!
There is only one Goggins, but his message is for everyone. Chris the interview was monumental, and I agree with Goggins you need to speak up more often about bullying, you are the man to do it. Keep it coming.
"You have to be your best self when you're least motivated." That's fucking powerful, the pod caster was waaaaaaay too nonchalant about that statement.
This guy embodies the pinnacle of wisdom. Expert interview. Kudos
Goggins has helped build my new mind. My medical situation gives me all the excuses I need to just sit in an ergonomic chair and just wait to be fixed by Health Care. I soon knew, no one was coming to save me. I would have to dig deep "embrace the suck" and just master my life. I am now working harder than I did when I once felt normal back when I was 19 years old. All of this is done in pain, with body limitations and other obstacles. Thank you for your inspiration.

For me this is one of the best podcasts episodes that is out there. Thank you for the time spent to share so many valuable experiences, thoughts and insights.
I felt goosebumps pumping in my head as I was listening to David. I've wasted a lot of time looking for what I wanted, but David tells us what we all NEED to hear. It's amazing.
Respect to Goggins, so humble, full of humility and absent of ego. God for sure is pleased with you! More life more blessings.

Great Interview!!! You are the first person to get David Goggins, to mention he has a child. Out of all the podcasts and Interviews he's never went into that, even in his his book he never went in about it. I've been trying to hear his insight on fatherhood, and more about that situation. You got him to talk a little about it, and with the little he gave, spoke a thousand words to me. Thank you for such a great interview, which I have to watch again for any missed jewels.
When times get rough I always go to my inner goggins to push me through.. he is incredible
I love listening to this man talk. I’m gonna run 100 mile race because of him. I’m at 3 miles in 38 mins now but gonna get there. Going for a new personal best distance run tomorrow, I haven’t set a number I’m just gonna see how far I can go.

David Goggins is the man. I love the energy and mindset he constantly live by.
Wow. I’m overwhelmed by this man. What incredible insight. A benchmark for living. Thank you. Thank you.
David Goggins understands the power in the journey of life better than anyone I've ever come across. He's an incredible inspiration. Chris, you are one of the most thoughtful and present podcasters going around, and I'm pretty sure that David Goggins felt that too. Thank you, both.
I admire how vulnerable these guys are, digging deep to understand how they felt in the past, freely sharing their emotions, and realizing how and what they were feeling at a certain time, but they would never know nor have a conversation about it if it wasnt for self realization, self growth, and discipline. "there are more interesting conversations about life and how to live it the right way when two people can be in honest and vulnerable but accepting dialogue"
He taught me a few things in this interview. There’s a couple of phrases I’ll never forget. Thank you David
the everyday resume part of the conversation hit me so hard. there is no daily affirmation that will get through if they all feel like fairytale lies you tell yourself . outwork your self doubt, truly beautiful 🤝
I wish I would have been able to follow David when I was in college. But you can't change the past and can only focus on learning from it. I'm grateful to him for offering his window into his own darkness and his leadership on overcoming it.
Goggin's is dropping some serious knowledge as always, "mental toughness is a perishable skill." I'm thankful to be reminded of this. I've become too comfortable riding my previous accomplishments. Time to get back to work - Thank you for the amazing content!
This is by far the best interview of Goggins I’ve ever seen thank you for sharing inspiration
There are legions of men who were bullied. We aren't destroyed but we are changed. Keep up the discussion. So many of us want to release our pain and shame. I realize that working and making and pushing is the only way forward. And forgiveness, both of our antagonists and ourselves, is the only answer.
Man I didnt think goggins could pull off another amazing podcast as he's said so much already. This is my favorite one as its straight up no chaser. No long back story needed anymore, just straight into overcoming the mind along with a great interviewer
First of all congratulations Chris! I can only imagine how you must feel right now being the only person besides Rogan (‘our Oprah‘) releasing an interview with Goggins. What a milestone. Goggins’ take on not letting a bad father figure be a cop-out or justification for one's own failure was deep. My favorite part though was your answer to your bully’s letter of remorse. Truly inspiring! Class act! 👏🏼
Thank you for providing your cold hard experiences with us David and Chris. It's encouraging to know that one can achieve such high levels of success. As they say pressure busts pipes or makes diamonds. So many gems dropped in this interview. Keep shining gentlemen!
David Goggins has helped me get through a half marathon in the past and I'll be leaning on his lessons/teachings for a full marathon next year. 🙏🏾
Love to hear long form Goggins. Love to hear most recent. I made a playlist of long form Goggins without music. I love to hear it before someone steals the audio, cuts it up and throws a crappy royal free symphony in the background to make it sound epic. Goggins best served with no cream or sugar.
What a closing statement. Maybe it's a good thing Goggins rarely ever does podcasts, simply because he can fill in the time between learning new lessons and coming up with new stuff
David is a beast and he is inspiring me to watch and talking about his struggles. Great podcast too. Chris much respect.
Thank you both for everything you have been through and for the knowledge and experience you are now sharing with the world. The part about bullying really touched my heart. It's inspiring how bravely you look at your past, integrate that side of you and move forward.
Seeing these types of crossovers is really promising. This generation has a unique set of trials before us and the likes of Goggins, Peterson, Jocko, and the like are all remarkable sources of light to guide many through these times
"The world is tough"... so very true!!!! Thank you David for NOT sugarcoating the truth!
