Great choice. From the same concert is also an amazing version of the song Echoes. You might have noticed that Rick Wright is also here on keyboards and sadly this was the last time Rick Wright ever played live ... and Gilmour has also said that he will never perform Echoes again. Also the live-set was released a week after Rick Wright had passed away. Pretty sure they didn't plan it that way but it was a very poignant thing nonetheless.

I concur. Most reactors do the original "Echos," and it's great. However, I prefer the version you picked because it's magnificent with the light show and solo's. They had all these years to hone that song to perfection. David's solo is simply incredible and very moving. The whole piece from start to finish = masterpiece.

Someone else may have already said this, but this is one of the, if not the first, song David ever wrote. On the studio version, he played almost every instrument himself (guitar, bass, drums, vocals). I think it was just Richard on keys. Such a beautiful song for a young man just learning his craft.

I really like your comments on the music of David Gilmour, I love that there are people who are sensitive enough to recognize in this God of the guitar the same thing that I have been recognizing since I was young when I discovered "The dark side of the moon" and They were forever my favorite band. You have already heard many of their songs, but the work of Pink Floyd is immense and you still have magnificent songs, for example "In Any Tongue (Live At Pompeii)" where David dazzles again with the guitar solo and where the three members of the choir whose work is worth highlighting. "Echoes", "Mother", or songs that you have already heard but that sound very different in other concerts, like "Comfortably Numb" in Pompeii, or the celestial "High Hopes" that in Gdańsk with a great orchestra sounds in a different way. very different from "Pulse" and where Gilmour also gives us a final extension of Spanish guitar that is a pure delight, although different from the one he plays in Remember That Night (Live at the Royal Albert Hall 2006), and the same thing happens with this song from "Fat Old Sun" Good David often likes to give us versions of his own songs and they all sound magnificent, that's why it's so interesting to listen to his concerts, he always surprises you with some variation in his guitar solos. I apologize if you don't understand me well, but I don't speak English, and everything is translated from Google.

Another beautiful reaction. Don’t worry about not always being able to find the words, your expressions and emotions say everything. I believe this was one of the first songs David wrote himself. Apparently the other members of Pink Floyd locked him in the studio and told him he couldn’t come out until he’d written something. And this was the result. He wrote and composed the entire thing, playing all the guitar parts, the bass and even the drums himself. Only getting help from Richard Wright for the keyboard parts.

@@Tbevie50 I can't remember the names of PF books I've read either. Except the latest one "Comfortably Numb" in which it says PF was notorious for wasting time in the studio, but instead would go home with an idea and create it there, then come back and work on it in studio with the others. David did lack confidence in the early yrs. mainly for taking over his friend Syd's job and not knowing where the band is heading, since he was mainly into rock, blues and folk music. Lot's of interviews with David on here, where u learn more than just reading the books.

you are both very cool and i love your reaction. they are full of human feelings, it is very beautiful. with pink floyd, it is important to note that pink floyd is not david gilmour. Most of the tracks, and this is the case with Fat Old Sun, are the result of collaborations between David, Roger and Rick. it is often forgotten that the lyrics were written by roger from the late 60s until he left the band. he is a brilliant songwriter. and many melodies were refined through the influence of rick. Pink floyd thrived on the creative tension between these three extraordinary people. but of course David is simply the best guitarist forever, no question about 😊
