    Welcome to Phase Four! This video took an insane amount of work, so I hope you all enjoy it! My only problem with this video is that it isn't an hour long. I was completely captivated through Se7en and then it became the concluding montage. I wanted you to continue through his entire career because it was so damn captivating how you edited it all together. Just wish you could complete a person's entire career. But I know this had to take you forever combing through all those interview blurbs. More like this please! Well done.

    Thank you so much Adam! That was the original intention, but I scrubbed the internet for about a week and couldn't find anything juicy for several of his films, nothing in the way of how the movie came together beyond a couple of fun anecdotes, and then I felt like people would think I was leaving out bits and pieces or playing favorites with his filmography, so I ended up leaving it after the bit about Se7en because that's where his career really began anyways. But no question I would have loved to tie a narrative together leading through all of his films, I find director's stories so fascinating! Thank you, I look forward to doing more of these for sure!

    There's a TON of interesting stuff revealed in BTS and director commentaries, but nothing that lent itself to the narrative I was trying to craft, certainly not for all of his films. Mostly fun tidbits about stuff on the day of shooting that he could recall, or things of that nature.

    I know that Fincher receives much acclaim from film enthusiasts, but it frustrates the hell out of me that more people don’t know him. I think out of all the working directors right now he is a true auteur who has such a suave way of telling a story.

    I'm just always frustrated when directors don't get more credit in general. People seem to know actors well enough, but directors never seem to get the credit they deserve in my opinion. They take words from a page and turn it into pure magic, it's fucking beautiful what good directors do.

    That One Guy I saw that and it’s so odd to me that PTA would say something like that about Fight Club yet openly talk about Goodfellas being a great film and an influence on Boogie Nights. Both are violent and I’d say have a way of glamorizing the relentless lifestyle, but I’ve never wanted to go out of my way to hurt someone after watching either of them. Guess it all comes down to personal preference (both are fantastic films though).

    What another great video, you captured David Fincher so perfectly. The cuts of footage from each of his film with dialogue being overlapped with music from each film overlapped with the immigrant song speak volumes about Fincher as a director. I don't know if you were trying to give an impression of sensory overload with the images and music overlapped but I think it was brilliant. Fincher's films are an overload but nothing at the same time, it's almost hypnotizing. That might sound pretentious but its the best way I can describe it. I find his films give a sense melancholy, they don't make you sad but it reflects a world with sadness in it that cant be avoided and his films don't end on happy notes so to speak, they end on life moments which I think why his films come across as so real, every time I watch a Fincher film can feel them and no other director has really achieved that for me at least. Social network truly resonates with me in a way I can't describe, as much of a good Biopic, it is better as a fiction story with its masterful soundtrack. The addition of Trent Raznor and Atticus Ross in his films become tenfold better, as they write music that fits in the worlds his creating so well. Their tracks come off as sterile, sci-fiesk and almost imitating white noise in a way. I can't wait for what they do with the Watchmen series. sorry for the mess of opinions. Great video, your best one yet. Definitely worth the wait

    Thank you JJ! I definitely wanted to create something intense and exciting, something I think his entire body of work shares. Something of a tribute that I could see the man himself putting together. David Fincher is one of the most talented filmmakers of all time, not every one of his films is a masterpiece, but they all shine through in ways that few other filmmakers can boast. And oh for sure, granted, some part of me will miss his collaborations with Howard Shore, but there's no question that Trent and Atticus work really well with Fincher's style. Thank you so much! I'm so glad you feel that way!

    I don't understand why people don't like Alien 3. This was a fresh take on an already established movie. The fact that he was brave enough to show that both Hicks and Newt didn't make the crash landing was a shocker, even though fans wanted the 'family reunion' to continue. The other interesting point was the grungy, abandoned prison planet that gave it a great setting for the film. Plus, I enjoyed that she was working off of british actors. I really enjoyed the movie, I don't care what other people think.

    It's just sloppy compared to what he could have done if given free reign. Fincher has stated that no one hates the film more than he does. That said, I think it's MUCH better than people give it credit for. It has a great score, terrific cinematography, and fantastic performances all around. Is it great? Not in my opinion, but hardly the worst in the Alien franchise.

  • @daniel_netzel

    @daniel_netzel

    5 жыл бұрын

    Honestly copyright is so tricky, but I would say this falls under fair use. It doesn't hurt the original brand, if anything it stirs up a buzz and gets people to revisit his work, ie: generates profit for the original copyright holder. There's plenty of work done to all of the copyrighted material that I would consider it transformative(I didn't just upload the full movie or uncut scenes) and it serves as a commentary on the original work.

    I feel like every person of incredible talent and success has been told at least once that they were no good. Gotta just push through that shit if you really want it bad enough, you're never going to impress everyone no matter how hard you try. I mean, people turned down J.K. Rowling when she tried publishing Harry Potter, people turned down The Beatles, Meryl Streep. It's so common it's crazy, but it shows that true talent and perseverance will win out.

    Only a few other directors can compare to him, but for me, even Tarantino is not better than him. They have different structures and creative processes, but Fincher is a real magician and can do whatever you throw at him...drama, thriller, horror. Tarantino only makes his own kind of films...
