When Chase is describing Tony Sirico’s surprised look, I immediately thought of the scene where Paulie realizes Finn is Meadow’s boyfriend. Paulie really is a cartoon character.

What's crazy is that just hearing him talk, not just in this but the few other times through the years that people have recorded sitting down to talk to him for an extended period of time, it's clear just from hearing him talk that he's a genius in terms of knowing himself, knowing other people and social situations, and knowing art. You rarely actually get that from other people who created works of art or science that are clearly genius. It's more like "did this person just luck into what they created? WTF?" With David Chase, it's like, of COURSE he created this. How could anyone else have possibly done it.

I really wonder if James “Jimmy” Gandolfini were here, if he’d like the fact that Micheal was cast in the role of the young Tony? I think that’s exactly why Micheal told Chase “fuck no” when Chase approached him for the first time because he saw what happened to his dad or didn’t know if he would be able to fill the huge wingtips? I can only imagine what the future held for Jimmy artistically? Miss you Jimmy RIP!

@@blotfd I think that’s Bloomfield Ave that goes North from Newark through East Orange, Caldwell, “Wes Cawdweh”.. My dad grew up in Maplewood, South of Newark, West of Irvington. Springfield Ave goes South from Newark to Maplewood, but it’s a much shorter road and I don’t think it had a name lol. It’s the old neighborhood though, my grandparents both came from a town called Pontecorvo in Italy. My dad says we still have family there, but we’ve never been.. That’s a dream of mine, to take my dad over and see where we came from. On an unrelated note, I’ve never asked my dad a lot about what it was like, but he’s shared things over the years. Numbers were a big thing back then, he said everyone played. Not sure if it was technically a “mafia” thing, but I’m sure it wasn’t ran by the most savory characters either way. It was much less politically correct for sure, apparently there was a Jewish baker they would go to, and the way his mom would send him to get something, “run down to the Jew and get some bread”.. they just called him “the Jew”, which I don’t think was meant to be derogatory. Also, there’s a scene where Christopher is talking to Adrianna about her “Irritable bowel syndrome”, and he says “yeah my aunt Josephine had colon cancer.. her whole asshole rotted out”. Which is first off a hilarious line, but I definitely had a great aunt Josephine. Also had two uncle Pauls, great uncle Tommy, cousin Tommy...
