David Cassidy Story - Behind the Music of The Partridge Family

Музыка

"I Think I Love You" was the number one 45 single of 1970, outselling The Beatles Let It Be. Besides David Cassidy singing lead and Shirley Jones on backup, the Partridge Family lip-synched all vocals and acted in playing their instruments. Meet the success behind the 70s TV series musical family in The Sound of the Partridge.
Shirley Jones and David Cassidy were the only members of The Partridge Family allowed to perform on their recordings. Unlike The Monkees, the actors who were not hired to sing didn't have musical aspirations. Top-tier session musicians played on The Partridge Family's songs, including Hal Blaine, Larry Knechtel, Joe Osborn, Louie Shelton and Tommy Tedesco. On their singles and albums, the group was credited as "The Partridge Family starring Shirley Jones featuring David Cassidy.

Shirley, the Bahler Brothers, Ron Hicklin and Jackie Ward did a great job backing David's lead vocals.

I knew that the Partridge Family was fake! They were the greatest pop/rock band that never really existed!
