With Les Miserables brass band. The performance of the Knee Plays (Music from the Civil Wars) was part of the concert for the ICA, shown on BBC2 in August 1988.

Lovely, bittersweet music. This should be played countless billion years from now, as people have a final dance while above the last stars wink out.
It took me a long long time to realise this was the same track as the Mahalia Jackson one ... but once I did it was quite obvious. I had just never listened to them both back to back. Both tracks are superb.
This is one of the two ABSOLUTELY MOST FABULOUS renditions of "In the Upper Room" I've ever heard!!!! In my book... this is no less awesome than Mahalia Jackson's version. YOWZA!!!
