@@ToweTiihFYI Ricky gervais had a hit in the 1980s which I think made the top ten for a week or something daft. One hit wonder. And when talking about David Brent the character in an interview he said he didn’t want the songs to be musically bad but instead wants the audience to be surprised by them actually being really good to listen to but at the same time really shocked at how the lyrics and the point of the song are so misguided due to Brent being a tit. @ots1634

Not the lyrics, he doesn't say 'no' because, not only does it not fit syllabically, but it also means something completely different. He isn't refuting the existence of the hard shoulder, he isn't saying "no, not hard shoulder, coffee holder instead" he is explaining that the coffee holder and the hard shoulder go hand in hand. The "hard shoulder?.... coffee holder" is an imagined interaction between the audience and Brent, he is explaining how he handles hard shoulders, should anyone be concerned about his hot coffee- his head shake is supposed to communicate "No it is not going to spill, I have a coffee holder". Please try harder not to mess up the lyrics that you are praising, and ruining them when doing so. I'm only half being serious and am making a ceremony of being a pendant, although the point remains.

Cool SilverEye! Too bad he didn't pursue a music career. Who know where that would've taken him.

Jeff Chang They tried but they weren't really successful. Maybe it would have lead to something different if he kept trying but I love his comedy career as well so I don't really complain.

DaveRelph001 omg yes! He would have got so much backlash for performing that on Children in Need but it would have been worth it

Great performance Ricky, one of my favourites on the album! (Also thanks for answering my question on FB!) Can you upload the other Brent clip from after this? I missed it :(
you're a fucking legend
Ricky G is sexy, a great singer.
I noticed the rest of the band are rather in the background and not as well lit up.. Typical Brent lol!
It's not quite like watching bowie transform into the slim white duke, but in gevais way, just as genius : ) .
this and his other songs are actually good
I fucking love his band
You must fucking love it
actually a really good song
He's Highway Code compliant I'll give him that!
Great song....he should do more frass reality and in 2;0 years get the Nobel prize for literature....
The intro sounds a bit like morning glory
anyone know where I can watch it and when DVD comes out
Basically a chilled out entertainer
It's actually a good song and well performed.
Good song, Brent's the real deal.
‘Mum, I’m in a band now, lead guitarist……’ “Nice one son, what’s the name of your band and who else is in it?” “Well, have you seen the office before?……..”
With his effortless blend of political lyrics and raw soul, David Brent appeals to intellectuals and black people alike.
