And David Sanborn on the SAX!!!
Blue-eyed soul doesn't get much better than Bowie baby!
David Bowie always had fresh music. He couldn't be limited to one genre. I'm still impressed with his collaboration with Pat Metheny on "The Falcon And The Snowman". "This Is Not America" by David Bowie and "Chris" by Pat Metheny are both on my phone's playlist.
David Sanborn played sax on this album. Bowie sang Young Americans on the TV Show Soul Train. This whole album is cool.
Thanks for the memories. I saw David Bowie back in the 70' s.
Love this classic. Missing my boy. Rip.

Bowie tearjerker, hardly ever played, "My Death" GQ awards 1997. He knew it. Go check it if you havent.
Luther Vandross sang choir on this record and wrote some songs with David. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
Ain’t there one damn song that can make me break down and cry? Catchy tune, isn’t it?
It’s the sax! And David, of course!
Golden years...
Great reaction I love this song. Bowie looooved soul--this was his homage to it. Thanks for just listening and dancing to the music. Sometimes I think cause it's Bowie everyone thinks there's some deeper meaning, he even joked about it saying 'my fans come up with meanings that never even occurred to me.'
This is the song that brought Bowie to America.
David Bowie was my first BIG concert, I think I was about 13 but grew up listening to classic rock so I knew exactly who it was I was going to see. He was already a legend by then, and to my young eyes and ears, he earned every bit of that title that night. He has something for every mood, every moment, every feeling, his catalog is just full of songs that make you groove as hard as you did with this one.
If you liked this one, try "Fame" and "Right" from the same album.
Bowie was touring his album Diamond Dogs in the US in 1974, listening to all the black soul radio stations as he was being driven around, and started writing "plastic soul" songs (as he called them) on the road, and going into studios (like Sigma Sound in Philadelphia) to record them. He was so prolific (releasing albums every 9-10 months at this point) that he re-tooled the tour after a break to accommodate these new songs, re-naming it "The Soul Tour" (AKA Philly Dogs)... he was the best 🙏

Bowie did time in Detroit. I think things rubbed off.
Boys Keep Swinging
Sigma Sound Studio in Philly!
Here's another nice upbeat love song you may not have heard. " Bingo " by the Whispers
This was the "Thin White Duke" era for David Bowie. Just after the Ziggy Stardust time frame.
One Of His Best Love The Review 😃😃
Try Fame, Let's Dance or Golden Years :)
He had some major Talent singing background including Luther Vandross
JT got moves!
❤❤❤
Bowie. Not too shabby eh?
DAVID BOWIE, "YOUNG AMERICAN", More Groovy 70's. Group BADFINGER, with "BABY BLUE", and "NO MATTER WHAT"...ELTON JOHN, "MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER", AMERICA, "SANDMAN". "RARE EARTH, "LOSING YOU".. SANTANA, "EVIL WAYS"..
The happier the music, the bleaker the lyrics.
Watch the live version to watch the background singers. Aren't they so great?
