David Bowie performing "1984" at The Marquee Club in 1973

From my collection: David Bowie and band performing "1984" at The Marquee Club in 1973.The show itself was a spectacular stage production that was filmed over 3 days, mostly at The Marquee Club, Soho, London for the American NBC TV late night show The Midnight Special.

When you didn't fit in anywhere, you always fit in with David Bowie. He spoke to everyone.

Binge watching Bowie....Time well spent.
Some of the last footage of Mick Ronson playing his Les Paul guitar behind Bowie.
The 1984 Floor show was ground zero for me. I was stunned and amazed at every frame, every move, every glance, every costume change. I followed him from that point on. He was the ultimate. A game changer for me👍

Bowie fans, this is amazing!

When I was younger, I thought that if I was to say "I'm into Bowie's music" I was going to be categorized as gay, in which I'm not. The guy was a musical Genius. I'm 60 and still amazed at the talent. Love Diamond Dogs.

Where did this person come from? Surely not one of us ordinary people. A SUPERHERO of rock.
Wow, been a Bowie fan since Space Oddity but hadn't seen this footage ever before. Thank you for posting! David was the 'beer light' that guided me. RIP friend.

An artist who was lucky enough to chase his dreams and be recognised for it. CHANGES….that’s Bowie. Full of changes
Thanks for this video. He started over rather than picking up from where the miscue occurred . Interesting
Raw talent from an early age!

That was a great evolution in performance and the band as a whole is incredibly dynamic. You can see how deeply connected David Bowie is to the music as he gives sideways glances to the band or tips his head in expectation of some glorious sound.
what a pity there was no wider stage panning coverage by the film crew... but stunning as it is... thanks for the upload
mind blown david is a starman
Ultimate Rock Star Predator ever .
He was a great live performer. Followed his reinvention of himself since the 70's.

Must have been the last time Mick Ronson played with him before he left (kicked out 🤷🏻♂️). Though Mick Ronson came onstage and played Jean Genie in Toronto on the Serious Moonlight tour.

@@pioneernut7487 Mick Ronson could play anything and it’s insulting to his legacy to say otherwise. Ronson was my first guitar hero and the solo on Moonage Daydream is still my favourite. Also you forget that all of the arrangements and production was done by Ronson.

@@billquinsey2401 he was great. But no way Bowie could have done YA, STS or Low with Ronson. Bowie was always moving on. And no.. Ronson didnt to all production and Arrangents himself. Both he and Bowie did. Ronson was a huge factor for Bowie becoming a world famous rockstar and he def. Deserves more credits as an overall musician.. but some Fans really take away a lot of Bowies work during their peroid lol. Bowies work after Ronson speaks for itself.

I think bowie is a rock icon, but when I was a kid I preferred Marc Bolan, the ziggy image was just too weird for me, I still think Bolan was way more Good Looking too
Didn't Bowie play this one for Reagan's inaugural party at the White House by Nancy's request?
His teeth looked better at that time before he had them fixed,
Funny but I don't think any trump disciples or texas ppl, will be lookin @ this for some reason
LUV Bowie BUT this is not a good track..I'm surprised he went with this.
Woody is already fired and replaced by Ainsley Dunbar, so it seems. Difficult to see, but at 15:50, you just get a short glimpse .. Overall, interesting video, but let's be honest: the song is crap, no matter how much you love Bowie. And with backing vocals singing out of tune 90% of the time ...

The cracked, dissonant vocals was an intentional choice Bowie made.
