Lyrics
Ah, ah, ah, ah
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues
(Let's dance)
To the song they're playing on the radio
(Let's sway)
While colour lights up your face
(Let's sway)
Sway through the crowd to an empty space
If you say run, I'll run with you
And if you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall, into my arms
And tremble like a flower
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
For fear your grace should fall
(Let's dance)
For fear tonight is all
(Let's sway)
You could look into my eyes
(Let's sway)
Under the moonlight, this serious moonlight
And if you say run, I'll run with you
And if you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall, into my arms
And tremble like a flower
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues
(Let's dance)
To the song we're playing
(Let's sway)
(Let's sway)
Under the moonlight, this serious moonlight
(Let's dance)
(Let's)
(Let's)
(Let's)
(Let's dance)
(Let's)
Let's dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance
(Let's dance)
(Let's sway)
(Let's sway)
Let's dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
(Let's dance)
About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

Took my daughter to see him in Vancouver in 1984, she was 5, had red shoes and thought this song had been written for her. She danced in the aisle with her red shoes on.

David Bowie was one of the biggest Humanitarian people you’d ever known, the reason he featured the Aboriginal people in this video was to shine light on them because their Lives Mattered too. David Bowie was against unfair racist mistreatment of fellow human beings. I remember him making MTV to show more black entertainers, and if they didn’t he’d boycott himself. As a black American man I love and respected what David Bowie stood for, may he rest in heaven.

Not much has changed for Aboriginal Australians. There are more in the workforce but they still have less opportunities than most Australians. Still, small steps I suppose. These days it's not just Aboriginal people, there is a lot of ageism and sexism. More male CEOS than female, more male representation than female in politics, that sort of thing. Australia is like a smaller version of America in some ways. This video was made only 16 years after they were granted citizenship by the way. Good old David, 6 years gone next Monday, R.I.P. great man.

I accidentally saw SRV in Louisville literally just before he was killed (late '89 or '90). I had zero interest in either him or "The Blues" as a snotty 19 yr old skater punk kid from SoCal, but fortunately I had an older & much wiser friend who had a friend with xtra tix, so I said "whatever", because of course I did 😂, & went. I don't use the phrase "I was humbled" lightly or as hyperbole. We were RIDICULOUSLY front & center (maybe 3 rows back? No more than 5), & just **seeing** him play was every bit (if not more, to my uninitiated ears) as mesmerizing as hearing him play. He was 1 of a kind, fersure. I don't think I said 3 words after the show, I just looked like ----> 😳 lol...& then I didn't shut up about it until, well ever, apparently. 😁 RIP King

This video was a plea for the rights of Aboriginal Australians. The red shoes represent the Western way of life that the girl wears for a while, then rejects and returns to her own culture. Great music video, amazing song with Stevie Ray Vaughan on lead guitar. ❤

My father and I had an emotionally stifled relationship but connected in depth through music, my dad took me to see Bowie in 1987, I was way to little not only to have remembered it but also to appreciate it, we saw him again on the reality tour in Singapore 2003. Heard of his passing on 10.1.16. Very sad news. I have been a big fan since buying the Ziggy Stardust LP in 1972. The 'to be played at maximum volume' message on the back cover was the height of rebellion to a 15 year old kid. Thanks for all the pleasure you give us. RIP
A nearly 40-year-old classic and still sounds as great as it did in the early-to-mid 80s. Bowie was one cool dude, a true original. Well done, Mr Bowie. You really made the grade.

No need to be ashamed, better late than never. I'm discovering artists all the time, many before I was born that are excellent, Django Reinhardt one such artist. A mate of mine got me onto Jimmy Reed back in the 90s'. I finally caught on to the 'Band' in the late 90's after seeing and being floored watching the 'Last Waltz' concert DVD. It goes on like that. One good thing about music being so crappy today is that you can seek out great music from decades long gone.
