About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

I've heard so many anecdotes about how David was just a regular, friendly, funny guy if you were lucky to know him. Shrewd and professional of him to keep the Rock God persona for the stage. I believe in his first flush of fame he had difficulty separating himself from the Ziggy he created and it nearly drove him insane. He really learned to be the master of his fame and enjoyed a rich personal and private life. Quite an achievement among his myriad others and perhaps his most rewarding. I can only guess, for his private life was exactly that. And rightly so.

I knew a fella who was working in wherever Absolute Beginners was made, Pinewood or Elstree. He was in the queue in the canteen with the rest of the set builders. Bowie came in and joined the queue like everyone else. A lacky came over and said 'Mr Bowie, please come to the front'. Bowie said 'no, I'll queue with the rest of the fellas thank you' and proceeded to chat like a normal human being. In the 70's he was surrounded by his management and wasn't so approachable. But he loved to just chat about mundane things.

They tell us not to worship people as Idols. During my Senior Year of High School, we were given an assignment in English Class to write about our Idols. I CHOSE Bowie. Not because of his person, but rather because of the SPIRIT within the human vessel of David 'Bowie' Jones. I loved his androgynous Self, his spunk, his energy, his creativity, his music, his acting, and his character. Now I realize why I keep seeing animals and characters with one shiny eye, people that blink one eye, and cars with only one headlight. IT's not just Sans of Time, but rather Father Time winking at Mother Nature. SPIRIT guiding me through my course, my destined life path. For 'Mee, in my personal journey, David Bowie IZ IT! "Don't dream IT, be IT" "If you build IT, they will come." "IT is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye."

The first record I ever bought was “Drive In Saturday”, then bought “Diamond Dogs” when it first came out, and was obsessed with it from that first needle drop on “Future Legend”s “.. this ain’t Rock ‘n’ Roll, this is genocide!” lyric! It even got me a Gold Star ⭐️ in my English class after the teacher asked if anyone knew what the word “genocide” meant, and I was only one who raised their hand and knew what it was! All thanks to “Diamond Dogs”

PSA to everyone that Ricky Gervais was a total stud back in the day when he was the lead of the music duo known as Seona Dancing. His vocals took much inspiration from Bowie, especially for their hit track "Bitter Heart". He doesn't much talk about it because people basically laughed him out of the music industry, but I can't imagine why for the life of me. Gervais was fantastic.

Ricky knows his stuff when it comes to David Bowie. I love the Mick Ronson stuff though I have to admit.

IN MEMORY OF THE SLAIN HERO AND HIS RESURRECTION You roared like a Lion in Manhattan, you spent all your money and lived like a king...you fought the battles of the Lord and came to destitution. You cried out in the gates of the city like a leper Messiah, and none gave heed to your call except the outcasts and dregs of society. You gathered them together as a shepherd gathers his sheep...they came to life at your words, your art and your reckless abandon of all convention. You piped a wondrous tune and the light of light entered into them. You fell into the shadow of death and " looked for his ass". You flew from Station to Station like a demon in your mad quest for redemption--- you redeemed others, yet you didn't redeem yourself. How have the mighty fallen! Your days passed like a shadow, yet you fought the evil eye of Sauron...you fought the wild beasts in the forests of Mordor....the hordes of Gog and Magog descended upon you. They surrounded you like maddened bees, yet you cut them off in the name of the Lord. But Gog had the upper hand and slew you...he desecrated your body, he infested your temple with the wasting disease! Yet you held on to the last and made an everlasting memory of your strife, the cries of your art told the tale of your war, it told the gospel of your death, it published the news of your ascension...here you are, dwelling in heaven, no scars to be seen...here you are, one magical movement from Keter to Malkuth! Here you are, you fly like an angel from Station to Station! Fly on you crazy diamonds, and arise from the dust...the time of your warfare is past... He walks among us like a god among men...and who can tell his tale? He was not regarded by the high and mighty, he was cast off as a freak of nature....yet he gathered the outcasts of Israel...his memory endures forever! He will be given the spoils of war, he will be raised and exalted more than he ever was during the days of his mortality...he is the hope of all of those who have fallen in battle! Shine on, shine on you mad Man, you Hero, you Lazarus, you Blackstar!
